check out this factoid in the article:

Doug Mansky, a Hostess driver in Detroit and a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, was in the process of moving to a cheaper condominium on Tuesday, after his union had agreed to an 8% pay cut that he said would shave $200 a week from his income.

If you do the math, the driver is making around $125,000 a year. wonder why they went broke? hm.....

The Teamsters had a racket going with Hostess and the bakers union screwed it up for them. I expect the Teamsters will put a contract out on the head of the bakers union.

18,500 jobs lost and gone most likely to Mexico because of union greed
elections have consequences, sad but...

what really gets me steamed is Americans up in arms about not being able to buy little creamed filled cakes while they are silent about Americans murdered by terrorists in Libya. Libya? where is that give me my twinkie!

go to the store buy some flour, sugar, eggs and vanilla... maybe you’ll learn something. rant over

That’s serious money for driving a local truck.
And in some locations, they didn’t even have to load/unload, it was done by laborers.

That’s about what I made at an automotive supplier when I retired a few years ago, I supervised 17 people with engineering degrees.

My son was top driver in his area and had to take $150.00 per week cut to keep his job. His retail sales exceeded over a half-million $$ a year for Hostess.

The drivers bust their asses for that money. It’s NOT the drivers fault Hostess bit the big one, it’s the Bakers Union.
