Top Illinois state officials said Tuesday they’ll push to issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants — a move backed also by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who for years stood as Democrats’ key impediment to pushing immigration in Congress.
State Senate President John Cullerton said he’ll try to pass a bill in the legislature’s veto session next week to remove restrictions on illegal immigrants getting licenses there, and Gov. Pat Quinn said he’ll sign it, if it reaches his desk. Both men are Democrats.
The move represents pushback after a decade in which states went the other direction, putting tighter restrictions on driver’s licenses after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The commission that investigated those attacks recommended stricter driver’s license requirements.
Illinois would become the third state to allow illegal immigrants to get licenses, joining Washington and New Mexico.

I wonder if the parents of a child killed by an illegal driver with a valid license will have standing to sue the State, City, Mayor, Governor, and members of the legislature who voted for this bill?
I wonder how many such parents will take revenge on the politicians in the old fashion way?
Illinois/Chicago is going to be an interesting place to watch, from a far, safe distance.

The only state in the country that is wholly opposed to its citizens being able (legally) to carry weapons to protect themselves and their families, but is one that has joined a handful of other states in granting rights and privileges to criminal invaders. We are sooooooo screwed, my friends.
Granting driver licenses in such cases truly means that the person is no longer “illegal,” and this will thrill the huge liberal majorities in IL.
If one of these bastards with one of these bogus “licenses” ever causes damage to my property or injury or worse to my family, I will sue the hell out of the state that issued them a bogus “license”.
I live in Lake Co., Illinois, and my county’s sheriff, Mark Curran, is a Republican who supports allowing illegal aliens to get driver’s licenses. He said that many illegals have jobs, in IL, and they need to be able to drive to their jobs. Sheriff Curran told me that he might run, statewide, in 2014. I think that he’ll run for attorney general, and I hope that he’ll lose his primary. We shouldn’t have an AG who rewards law-breakers.
I hope that the legislature will pass a bill that states that, if an illegal alien wants a driver’s license, he or she should go to a DMV office, at a certain time. When they arrive, ICE agents would arrest them and deport them.

After a few terrorists holding IL driver’s licenses are discovered they will clamp down —— NOT.
That's another problem.
Wars were fought in this country over the right to peaceably travel from place-to-place using contemporary conveyances without having to show "papers".
