Stop voting for numbnuts like Harry Reid, and maybe things will improve.

interesting but no go ~ the states of the Old Northwest were required to wait while the federales sold off the federal government owned or controlled land.

This was the normal course of events ~

Hold on a minute:

Where did the Feds PAY for this land in the first place?

Who were the ‘sellers’???

I think the Feds should just back off all the land on which they hold control and turn that control back over to the individual states.

I am pretty sure that NO SALE ever occurred, so there should be no ‘sale’ back to the states or privte citizens.

Only where it can be proven that an actual sale occurred from a private citizen or a state to the Feds, should there be a ‘re-purchase’.

Here in Nevada, the Feds control over 87% of the land mass. That is 87% that doesn’t pay a dime in property taxes and is basically under-productive. Ranchers that hold decades old graxing leases re under constant battles with the National Forest Service & the Bureau of Land Management.

There is a lawsuit that has raged on since 1991 against the Federal government by a rancher’s family near the middle of Nevada. There have been numerous decisions against the Feds and against employees of the FS and the BLM individually.
Up to now, the Feds owe this ranching family over $14 million plus penalties and interest.

It will probably end up in the Supreme Court, and this family has won every round so far.

Get the Winter 2013 copy of Range magazine and read it for yourself. Wayne Hage family lawsuit(s).
