“There hasn’t been a good King Killing since 1917.”

Abdullah I was assassinated on the Temple Mount in 1951 by a Palestinian. His Emirate, created by the British gained its independence from Great Britain in 1946. He is the Jordanian leader who actually occupied the West Bank, annexed it to his nation Trans-Jordan, and then renamed his nation Jordan. In September, 1970 Palestinians tried to overthrow the government of Jordan, and were expelled from the country into Lebanon.

Key point...The British created Trans-Jordan and placed a Saudi Prince on its throne (two-thirds of the Palestinian Mandate). This was the first Palestinian state created out of the Palestinian Mandate. Jewish settlers were told to withdraw from Jordanian soil, move west of the Jordan, reserved for them. The British then, because of Arab pressure, never establish Israel as a state (like they had created Trans-Jordan).
