I'm an original intent constitutionalist. That means in matters federal government policy I am libertarian, because the original intent of the US Constitution was to create a national government for dealing with issues like national defense, and negotiating trade agreements with foreign nations. It's not supposed to be involved in regulating the day-to-day activities of individual citizens. To the degree that needs to be done, it's the pervue of the states to do it.
Ben Franklin said they had given us "A republic, if you can keep it." I'm trying to keep it, and conserve to the original intent of the Constitution. If you have to put labels on it, I'm neither social nor fiscal conservative, but fundamentalist coservative. I'm trying to conserve the fundamentals.
