Kevin McCarthy was a staunch defender of these new lines, reassuring everyone that Republicans would fare just fine under them, said Jon Fleischman of the Flash Report, the much-read online newsletter on California politics. Clearly, this turned out not to be the case although he was easily re-elected to the safe seat drawn for him. Had he drawn a competitive district, I wonder if he would have been so enthusiastic about the lines he helped stopped others from trying to stop.

I dunno, 900 votes cast in a ward with 7 registered voters might have had something to do with it, too. If it’s true, that is.
The legislature is responsible for re-districting. The legislature CHOSE to hire someone else to do their job. They accepted the commission’s gerrymander of a freshman Republican’s district without question.
You can bet that Democrats don’t make that mistake.
Good idea — don’t blame the A) failure to vote for Pubbies B) widespread vote fraud and C) illegal aliens and other Latinos voting Demwit, not to mention a couple of generations’ worth of shift in California toward the Demwits.
