Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (RGR) announced today that its Board of Directors voted to declare a special dividend of $4.50 per share on the Companys issued and outstanding shares of common stock. This cash dividend will be paid on December 21, 2012 to shareholders of record as of December 7, 2012.
Chief Executive Officer Michael O. Fifer commented on the special dividend, The decision to return this cash to our shareholders was based on an analysis that indicates we can continue to fund our high rate of organic growth, including expected increases in both working capital and capital expenditures, and fund our quarterly dividend while still growing our cash reserves at a modest rate. In addition, the special dividend will substantially increase the Companys return on our shareholders equity, as the equity will now more accurately reflect the net assets being used in the conduct of the business. Likewise, after the special dividend, our long-term investors will still own the same future stream of earnings, resulting in an increase to their return on investment.

Why do I think we will be seeing more of these special dividends over the coming 4 years?
Holy Shiite...that’s an almost 10% dividend. That will bring some attention to the stock.
And that is a special dividend, so that is IN ADDITION TO the 3.2% dividend being paid out in about a week.
So, if one buys shares before Dec. 7th, they get $4.50/share dividend? That’s a ‘WOW’ kind of deal! Ticker RGR should skyrocket tomorrow.
Congratulations to Ruger and its shareholders. I wish I had some gun stock, but I’m still happy with my atnt stock.
I imagine that Ruger has seen phenomenal business since the election.
Personally, I’d love to get some Armalite stock.
I just today bought a Red Jacket Firearms ar-15, and my God is this a lovely, quality weapon.
I do not think that I have ever held a weapon this fine in my hands in my entire life. Gonna shoot it wednesday along with my ruger sr-22 at the outdoor range, so can’t wait for that.
From what I understand from a couple of websites and a gun dealer, ar-15’s as well as some other models are in huge demand right now.
I bought 2 guns this past weekend, an AR-15 and a Springfield XDm.
Also bought 4 Rugers this year.
Isn’t Red Jacket the gun from that Discovery Channel show?
Paying out that dividend before taxes go up.
I was at Wal-Mart this afternoon and looked over the guns. I thought the prices were pretty good considering the demand must be really high.
Yep, that is the one.

I used Oneshare many years ago to buy the actual single share paper certificates that I have framed in my room. Of which they send me a check for, most are just .17 for Cisco or .26 such as Disney.
I had purchased a Springfield XD 40cal auto pistol a few years back. I love this weapon. The only time it ever jammed on me was when it ejected a shell that went straight up then fell straight down back into the slide as it closed.
That seemed pretty lucky to me, like the guy on Twilight Zone who flipped the coin and it landed on its edge. I was not able to read people thoughts for a day after my falling shell jammed the slide though :D
A year ago I purchased the Ruger sr-22. put a bipod and red dot on it, and it is just a shooting machine, so accurate, also not as expensive to fire as ar-15 since it is a .22LR.
I cannot wait to fire my ar-15 this wednesday. It’s going to be like Christmas in Novemeber! I’m not sure if I want to put a red dot or hologram sight unit on it though or just stick with the pop up sights. One thing I don’t like about the fancy sight units is if your battery runs out in the field and you don’t have a replacment, you ain’t got no sights.
I have the EOTech 512 on mine. Uses cheapo AA batteries so they are easy to always have on hand. But I would like to add a magnifier, but am not sure if I can use an EOTech magnifier witht he 512. I have read some reviews state it is too high for the magnifier. If anyone has such a setup I would love to hear about it.
If you were a betting man, I would make a fortune off of you.
I see that Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK) has finally started to pay a (small) dividend.
Don’t own ATK but I do own OLN....they make Winchester ammo.....and pay a 4% dividend.

If you have a A2 style front sight and a holo sight like an EOTech, you can have your iron front sight be co-incident with the bottom of the turned-off glass in the EOtech and you have a sight system right there without batteries.
It sounds complicated, but if I had an EOTech and the front iron sight set up correctly on a rifle in front of you, you’d see instantly what I’m talking about.

I do see what you are saying there, and that does make sense. I will probably look into a hologram after I save up a bit more cash, those suckers are pricey.
I’m just going to try out the pop up sight and the iron tomorrow and see how I like those.
