Not a surprise. In fact, it wouldn’t be too surprising if fanatical muslim parents killed their child deliberately for a photo-op like this. Not that different from strapping a bomb belt to a child, or sending a child out into a minefield to clear it by blowing himself up, which has been done more than once.

And since AFP and Reuters employ fanatical Muslims as reporters and photographers, the parent could kill the child in front of the photographer, and it wouldn’t bother him a bit. He’d just say, “OK, pick him up and turn to the left a little more, so the light is right.”

Remember when Israel last went into Lebanon the “green helmet” rescue worker who was digging out a child's corpse in a staged news event? Green helmet turned out to be a propaganda minister for Hammas. I also remember the pristine US made ambulance paraded out for these news events when most news stories showed dilapidated VW vans serving as makeshift ambulances. My favorite was the “bomb magnet” lady who lamented Israeli planes bombing her house in two separate locations on the same day, but portrayed by the manipulated press as two different incidents. However who could forget the photo-shopped Reuters photo of Beirut burning were the fires were crudely and obviously exaggerated using a “clone stamp” tool.
