The city of Santa Monica has allowed an elaborate nativity scene in its Palisades Park each Christmas for nearly 60 years, but officials are ending the tradition this year after an atheist set up his own non-religious display and caused an uproar.
Now, the churches behind the nativity are suing in federal court and claim the city violated their freedom of speech by stopping the holiday tradition.
A court hearing Monday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles could decide the fate of the Christian tableau for the upcoming season.

And yet the liberals claim there is no war on Christmas.

My guess is no one will ever see the nativity again.

This is Sta Monica, mind you. Only if Buttcrack Obama was in the scene will it only be allowed to stay.

These atheist maggots have nothing to celebrate - nothing to affirm - nothing to glorify. The Nativity, the life of the Holy Family, the Crucifixion and Resurrection provide us a solid ethos and rubric for guiding our lives aright.
The atheists are akin to the ancient women in the Eliot poem - they gather fuel in vacant lots. They believe in nothing and they are nothing.

King Barry already stole Christmas at our house with the high gas prices. We save up from about June to November every year but this year there was nothing left to put in the envelope and save every month because it went in the gas tank.
If anyone has some lefty friends who try and defend the media you don't have to get to anything as big as Benghazi. Just ask them why the media made a huge deal out of gasoline getting to $3 at one point when Bush was in but don't say a word when it hovers around $4 and takes every extra penny average working folks have.

Atheists are irritated by Christianity and want to see it belittled, even though philosophy itself tells them they can’t even think themselves out of the wet paper bag of solipsism. Their game is all posturing and vitriol.

Why do I have to tolerate gays kissing in public, but no one has to “tolerate” a nativity scene in public?

Good point, and thanks for the use of the word "solipsism." It's a word I heard and used often in my undergrad days - a word that explains much of what is wrong with the world today. The most beautiful example I can recall of solipsism is the poem "Tea in the Palaz of Hoon" by Wallace Stevens:
Not less because in purple I descended
The western day through what you called
The loneliest air, not less was I myself.
What was the ointment sprinkled on my beard?
What were the hymns that buzzed beside my ears?
What was the sea whose tide swept through me there?
Out of my mind the golden ointment rained,
And my ears made the blowing hymns they heard.
I was myself the compass of that sea:
I was the world in which I walked, and what I saw
Or heard or felt came not but from myself;
And there I found myself more truly and more strange.

To go anywhere out of yourself you have to “believe” your way out of it... that doesn’t mean creating fantasies of course, this simply means continuing to hold true in the darkness what you learned in the light.

Ain’t that ironic, since there’s no 1st amendment counterpart in the Canadian constitution to abuse this way... it can’t be abused that way. Canada would tell the likes of the ACLU to go pound sand about the nativity scenes.

In Santa Monica.
St. Monica was the mother of St. Augustine, a doctor of the Church, widely read as one to lead others to Jeasus with his theology.
She prayed for him for 17 years to convert to Christianity.
He had been a pagan and a very bad man besides.
How ironic that this should occur in a town named for her.

That’s a hate-Christian display. I thought they’d have figures of “Reason” and the such strutting about.
