There lots of options for rescue of the Americans in Benghazi, but they most likely could not have saved the ambassador, since that happened in the first wave of the attack.
It is my guess that Obama ordered the Stand Down after he saw the live feed from the surveillance cameras that showed that the ambassador was not going to make it. I believe that the stand down order was given so as not to further anger the Al Qaeda group and that no consideration was given for the safety of the remaining people, located a mile away at the CIA facility, who could have been rescued.
It is my guess that the false narrative, regarding the video, was concocted early on, in the situation room by Clapper, Petraeus’ boss. I also think that it was Clapper’s idea to blame Petraeus for the bad security information.
Could well be but you can be sure that the political machine led by the bent axel always has a say in things since everything that happens is political first at the Chicago machine that runs this country now.

On it. And what plays into that so well, was Levin's hedge hedge hedge performance on ABC, and King hinting you know we're not to the bottom of this yet, ie The Preezy could be still called to testify.
Note Drudge is showing renewed interest...Rush was all over it Thurs.-Fri.
I feel the sense if we play this out just right, this will be a lame-duck administration from Day 1...
There's one totally imponderable question in all of this: Who came up with the "offensive video" excuse...and why?
I seriously doubt it was Clapper. Why would the Director of Intelligence even know about an obscure video posted on You Tube since July that had seen fewer than a thousand hits?
Indeed, who in the administration would have reason to know about an obscure video that ridiculed Islam and bore the amateurish signature of a Pallywood-style propaganda piece -- which had been produced and posted on YouTube for no apparent purpose?
By definition, wouldn't that be somebody who was familiar with the video from its production?
And who might that be? Wouldn't it be somebody whose primary interest was in improving the administration's "outreach" to the Muslim Brotherhood? Somebody who recognized that the video had value as a "provacateur" device?
I think maybe I'd start with Huma Abedin. Or Valerie Jarrett.
