Sen.-elect Ted Cruz believes Mitt Romney got a little too close to Barack Obama in the third presidential debate.
“I’m pretty certain Mitt Romney actually French-kissed Barack Obama,” Cruz said in a speech at the Federalist Society’s annual conference Friday.
Cruz said that conservatives failed to make their case to the American people, leaving Romney no choice but to move toward the president. “We didn’t win the argument, we didn’t even make the argument” throughout much of 2012, Cruz said.
But in the first debate, he argued, that changed.
“It was the one time we actually contested ideas, presented two viewpoints and directions for the country,” he said. “And then inevitably, there are these mandarins of politics, who give the voice: ‘Don’t show any contrasts. Don’t rock the boat.’ So by the third debate, I’m pretty certain Mitt Romney actually French-kissed Barack Obama.
“I have no doubt that there is a focus group somewhere of undecided Ohio voters who have been living in a cave for the last 30 years, who decided they liked that,” Cruz continued. “‘Don’t show any disagreement whatsoever with the president. Don’t rock the boat. Just be a nice guy.’”

Bingo!! Cruz has the ability to explain our side of things to the average American in a way they can understand. I pray he gets a stronger leadership role.

Unfortunately, he was born in Canada, so he is not eligible for POTUS.

He won in Texas. Texas. That’s like winning a Big Mac at McDonald’s. It’s a given. Show me how well you do in a nationwide election and maybe I’ll listen to your childish analogies. So tired of all of these people.

I supported Cruz during the primary and contributed to his campaign. Hopefully it's just a case of post-election over-exuberance.
Is Texas all that much different demographically than many of the blue states? We have our share of minorities, and yet Republicans do manage to win state-wide races....maybe the National GOP can learn a thing or two from how we do things in Texas.
Of course it is. Are you comparing the voting history of Texas to Michigan?
I don’t care about past history, and FWIW back in the day a Texas Democrat was more conservative than most Rockefeller Republicans.
The only Republican in that story was Cruz.
In Texas, with the exception of Austin, there are fewer dumb white liberals and more conservative Tejano-type hispanics. Therefore, for now, our state goes Republican.
You’re proving my point for me. Cruz getting elected in Texas doesn’t mean squat. Let’s see how well his talk does nationally.
And why are the Tejanos conservative?
Belief in the family, more religious, and have a shared long-term investment in our state.... Lots of Tejanos have been here many generations and they believe in and love Texas.
Hell, most any Democrat was more Conservative than those spendthrift big gubmint Socialist RINOs.
So am I.... very damn much.
What we need to do is focus on the future..... not keep picking the bones of the past.
Besides, Romney was/is not the real enemy. Folks continue to look past what really gave Obama a second term....... it was the media.
I supported Romney too. Excited even though not my first choice. But Ted is right.
Cruz won KBHutchinson’s senate seat after a grueling primary against a RINO Dewhurst who was the GOPe’s boy and was endorsed by Perry and had a family bankroll. It went into a tiebreaker, so to speak. Levin got on it, so did other conservatives and Cruz then prevailed.
He has some very conservative things to say.

Heller, Cruz assembled a coalition of thirty-one states in defense of the principle that the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms.[17] Cruz also presented oral argument for the amici states in the companion case to Heller before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
In addition to his victory in Heller, Cruz has successfully defended the Ten Commandments monument on the Texas State Capitol grounds, the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools and the 2003 Texas redistricting plan.[18]
Cruz also successfully defended, in Medellin v. Texas, the State of Texas against an attempt by the International Court of Justice to re-open the criminal convictions of 51 murderers on death row throughout the United States.[19
