Eastern used to be a big airline. Unions killed it. Frank Borman actually offered to sell the company to the unions. The unions balked, and then proceeded to completely destroy the company from within. The union pilots who had just accepted a new contract decided to violate that newly-signed contract by going on strike to support another union. The airlines went belly up shortly afterwards.

Interesting picture, I never knew Eastern flew 747’s. I flew Eastern a lot in the late 70’s and early 80’s and flew on L1011’s. I never saw an Eastern 747, I didn’t think they had many routes that were long flights.

Same thing is happening with American now. Unions have killed it.
