The death of a journalists 11-month-old son in Gaza on Wednesday has prompted a flood of poignant messages online -- and a media backlash -- when pictures of Jihad Misharawi, a BBC Arabic video editor, showed him carrying the body of his dead son.
Mishrawis son, Omar, was killed after Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip fell on his Gaza home, according to the BBC.
Omar is among 16 people killed in Gaza since Wednesday afternoon, including four children, according to Al Arabiya correspondents. Fighting began when Israels targeted killing of Hamas military chief Ahmed Jaabari on Wednesday. Since then, Palestinian fighters have fired around rockets over the border.
The death of Mishrawis son at first prompted anger from online commentators and news blogging sites over the BBCs alleged lack of, or minimal, reporting on the killing.
When BBC ignores Israeli murder of its own cameramans baby, what hope for other Palestinians? an article on The Electronic Intifada blogger/ activist-based website questioned, alleging that the broadcaster totally ignored the killings on its Wednesday night news bulletin.

Geez, we’re slipping. Took 50/51 posts before I saw what I was looking for in this thread.
ROFL
Eleven-month old? Where is the rest of it? Mine weighed 20# at six months!
Her other quote was, "We can forgive you for killing our children, but we shall never forgive you for making us kill yours."
This might sound cold but this might have been that child’s only opportunity for an eternity in heaven. The child is blameless and has not yet reached the age of accountability. While tragic to lose a child, I feel consolation that the child is likely very now in the arms of Jesus. Had he/she grown to adulthood, that would not be the case.
“He was hoping his kid would grow up to be a suicide bomber and get to kill other Jews.”
It’s Not Too Late!!!
Quick, grab a baby carriage, fill with C4...rest baby gently on top...head for the local market!
Mess with the BULL..... you get the horns....
Too many photo shopped fake photos from the last war to make me care.
america will git on the wrong side of this for sure
When I saw this photo yesterday I didn’t say a thing....Now I will.
I remember many TV shots and photos of Jews dead on buses that had been blow up by same Hamas lovin’ folks. Yet had this been his dead girl would he have been so sad? How do I know his dead boy is even in that white sheet?
Also remember Saddam used to have dead children in morgue have the body’s place at a site after US would bomb a it. I do not care or believe the enemy anymore.
By the way if his child is really dead, why not show his body, yes gruesome....they have no problem when they kill Jews do they?
He killed his own son by acquiescence to evil.
I’m calling BS. That bundle isn’t big enough to hold an 11 month old baby. Maybe a six month old. This was staged.
Here is picture of actual baby with Kenyan Hawaiian Palestinian mother:
Now you infidel believe!
That said, a dead child is a dead child, and a grieving parent is a grieving parent.
It is not an occasion for tasteless comments, as some here have made. The fact that radical Islamists promote a twisted culture of death does not make its children any less innocent. They are God's children too, and deserve better than to be slaughtered as a consequence of their culture's illness.
