TAMPA — Frederick W. Humphries II helped make the FBI's cases against a would-be bomber on the West Coast and a university student in Tampa.
But the investigation he is most certainly going to be remembered for is one that led to the downfall of CIA director and retired Gen. David Petraeus.
Humphries was revealed Wednesday night as the Tampa FBI agent who took the complaints from socialite Jill Kelley that started a cyberstalking investigation and uncovered Petraeus' affair with biographer Paula Broadwell.

"He and his wife have been social friends of Mr. and Mrs. Kelley for years," the attorney, Lawrence Berger said. "Apparently, she felt threatened and she went to him. He had no further involvement in the investigation."
Earlier this week, a report in the Wall Street Journal depicted the agent as "obsessed" with the case, once sending a shirtless picture of himself to Kelley, who often threw extravagant parties for military brass at her South Tampa mansion.
Berger confirmed that Humphries had, indeed, sent a shirtless photo of himself to Kelley several years ago — but said the picture was part of a series of jokes between the families.
In the photo, he said, Humphries appeared without a shirt standing between two firing-range dummies. It was not of a sexual nature, Berger said.

Berger, the general counsel for the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, took issue with the way Humphries is being portrayed. He said he believes someone in the FBI is spreading false information about Humphries to embarrass him.
"I think there's a leaker in the bureau," Berger told the Tampa Bay Times. "Somebody has it in for my guy."

We KNOW the WH is HIDING the Kelley/Khawam and WH staffer connection. Why?
I been exploring this from a different angle.
On Oct. 24, the sisters had lunch in the White House Mess with a White House staffer. That followed a Sept. 28 breakfast between the same three people.
The White House declined to name the staffer, saying his identity would become public in a few months when visitor logs are posted. But an official said the staffer had gotten to know Jill Kelley through connections to MacDill.
The man worked as a civilian lawyer in Afghanistan and got to know military personnel, who invited him to MacDill, where he met Kelley. He now works as a lawyer in the White House.
I think I am more behind than you, lol, but will do when I see or post anything relevant.

My gut feeling is that there is a LOT more beneath the murky waters to this whole nest.

Indeed, Mr. Petraeus and his wife grew so close to the Kelleys that they hosted the couple and Ms. Kelley’s twin sister, Natalie Khawam, for Christmas dinner last year.
**Christmas dinner, daughter’s wedding? This implies the Khawamian twins were very close to the Petraeus family, especially Holly, who presumably would be extending the invites.

The lawyer, Robert Barnett of Williams & Connolly, is known for negotiating book deals for the political elite, from President Barack Obama to one-time vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
Makes sense to me. Too many coincidences with these FLA gals. Still wonder about those emails between Jill and Paula. Certainly not NORMAL convo between women in a cat fight. Didn’t seem like they were strangers and got the impression Jill knew exactly who she was talking to.
Maybe she went to her FBI friend to scare Ms Broadwell then was warned off. (by her “handlers”) She had too much to expose and acted on impulse. Would love to see her phone records, btw.

Kelley was at the WH three times this fall. (Paula Broadwell’s been there twice as well.)
Kelley and her twin sister, Natalie Khawam, had two ‘courtesy’ meals in the mess at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue as guests of a mid-level aide in September and October, a White House official said. Kelley and her family also received a tour of the presidential residence on the weekend before the November 6 election.
They attended the Petraeus daughter’s wedding on 10/13.
In September Jill was in NY attempting score $80 mil on the coal gasification deal.
“Victor said he met Kelley at the Republican Convention in Tampa in September where she boasted about her close contacts with General David Petraeus.”
