Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana fiercely shot back at Mitt Romneys claim Wednesday that President Barack Obama outmatched the 2012 Republican presidential nominee by offering "gifts" to African-Americans, Hispanics and young voters.
I absolutely reject that notion, Jindal, who was a surrogate for Romneys campaign, said at the Republican Governors Association conference in Las Vegas. I think that's absolutely wrong.
I don't think that represents where we are as a party and where we're going as a party, he continued. That has got to be one of the most fundamental takeaways from this election.
Romney made the comments on a call with top donors Wednesday afternoon, various news outlets have reported. The former Massachusetts governor also made similar arguments on a separate call earlier in the morning, CNN confirmed.
"What the president, president's campaign did was focus on certain members of his base coalition, give them extraordinary financial gifts from the government, and then work very aggressively to turn them out to vote," Romney said in the afternoon call, according to audio aired on ABC News.
Romney, who lost to Obama by 126 electoral votes, said the president courted voters by offering policies - some of them this election year - that appealed to key constituencies.

Sorry Bobby, I love ya man, BUT THIS TIME ROMNEY IS RIGHT!
Romney is right and I respect him for saying so. What he left out is the gift for all ozombies, that would be socialism.
We have seen the enemy . .and it includes “us”
Sometimes Gov., you just keep your trap shut. If you can’t acknowledge the buying of votes, the demographics of voting and the generational differences then you are being either very naive or very untruthful
The leadership of the GOP doesn’t get it and sadly some of the politicians are clueless too. Put a fork in Jindal’s chances for the presidency. Pandering to minorities is only going to add more of them to the Democratic ranks. If the GOP wants to be a vanilla version of the Democratic Party then it is over for them and the Tea Party and other conservatives need to bail out now.
Romney would have been better served, as we would have been, had he said this during the campaign and not backed off his 47% comment. NOW he grows a pair. THANKS MITT.
And Ryan is slamming Obama today too. We needed something to piss these guys off BEFORE they got beat. If it had, they wouldn’t have gotten beat.
There are other ways to appeal to minorities and what not without pandering to them with goodies.
Jindal declares himself GOPe.
I told ya so.
Never liked Jindal. He isn’t able to combine words into an intelligible sentence.
Republicans are deathly afraid of being called names. Until they get over that we will never win and we may never win again in my lifetime unless something happens to focus the young, the urban voters and the vaginacentric on their survival rather than their obamaphones, useless 200,000 educations and uterus’s.
Yes, its the being fearful of the names that I refer to. That can change immediately, and should.
I just do not understand why Republicans have to jump on each other for every controversial (if not true) comment.
Sheer stupidity.
Certainly. Overdue. If we’re gonna lose the least we can do is bloody up the other guy with some well placed elbows and knees.
As an aside, did you know that Mrs Petraeus was a 190,000 per year dc bureaucrat? What a cesspool DC is.
Well Bobby, you’re half right, as Romney didn’t phrase it properly.
Romney should have said, “Obama won because he’s spent Billions on vote buying programs and promised Billions more.”
Geez what is up with Republicans eating their own..this is what is wrong with the GOP, too many of them are afraid to speak the TRUTH about Obama..Romney is RIGHT..he is 100 percent right..Obama gives people freebies, which unfortunately trumps freedom every single time..just give people abortion on demand, free birth control pills, Obamaphones, and food stamps and they will continue to vote Dem
Romney's right. Baracka Claus bought the votes.
