The list of words MSNBC's Chris Matthews believes are racist if uttered by a conservative got longer on Wednesday.
You can now add "urban" which offended Matthews when Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) said it during an interview Monday, but didn't bother the Hardball host in the slightest when Salon's Joan Walsh said it on his own program two days later (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):
"There's more of this dog whistle crap going on," said Matthews before he introduced guests Walsh and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Cynthia Tucker.
Really? So if a conservative talks about urban, suburban, and ex-urban voters just like anyone else might, he or she is being racist?
Do only blacks live in cities in America? There are no whites in Manhattan, Boston, or Philadelphia?
Apparently not.
But the really delicious part came a few moments later when Walsh referred to urban and suburban voting areas without a squawk from Matthews.
"Paul Ryan lost his home district, lost his city, his hometown, let's just say that, which is not a particularly urban place," Walsh said without any pushback from Matthews.
Towhead Matthews certainly has a race fixation.
Oh, let’s add words to help the media...
Baby Daddy
Baby Momma
Have those been picked up yet?
How about those living in the black slums be known as living in the back woods. That isn’t racist and it is rural, has nothing to do with cities.
Paul Ryan won his congressional district as congressman this year. 55% which isn't bad considering he was on the ballot twice.
Also Janesville isn't a city or urban place? It has 65,000 people and the biggest city in the county.
Chrisie Boy needs to check in the Mayo Clinic with Jesse Jackson Jr. They can go through treatment together.
Actually the racists live in the urban areas
My dog whistle has made the words “Chris Matthews” deeply offensive and they bring on projectile vomiting.
~ Larry Elder, "The Ten Things You Can't Say In America"
Rural? Never heard of it before Rap Music.
“...do with cities.” Ain’t cities racist?
Mr. Matthews - the key to a long career in your chosen field is not to swallow.
The good news is that before long, Chrissy won’t be able to utter a word, as every word would be declared racist. The really good news is that nobody is watching his loser show except the MSNBC folks that need story lines. Poor Chrissy, he will soon tingle himself to pieces.

I think Chris Matthews is racist.
Would your husband say he is more Urban or Rural?
Very funny. Not racist.

I was listening to a discussion of urban schools that included a black education professor. She used the term clearly to mean schools with large minority enrollment, since some of the urban schools she referred to were actually in suburbs. How about that?
Chris is giving a bad name to mental illness.
