Abraham Lincoln is returning to the White House tomorrow Lincoln the movie that is. The White House press office announced today that President Barack Obama will be hosting cast and crew members from the Steven Spielberg-directed film for a screening at the Executive Mansion on Thursday evening. DreamWorks had no comment on the screening. However, Deadline has learned that Spielberg, DreamWorks co-Chair and CEO Stacey Snider, producer Kathleen Kennedy as well as actors Daniel Day Lewis, Sally Field, Gloria Reuben and Tommy Lee Jones will all be there with the President and First Lady. Day Lewis plays the 16th President of the United States. Field plays his wife Mary Todd Lincoln, Reuben plays a former slave who is Mrs. Lincolns dressmaker and Jones plays abolitionist Republican Congressman Thaddeus Stevens. Director Spielberg, who was a big contributor to the Obama reelection campaign this year, has repeatedly said that he delayed the film coming out until after Presidential election to avoid Lincoln becoming a political football. The DreamWorks Studios/Fox/Disneys Lincoln opened in limited release on November 9, bringing in $900,000 that weekend from 11 theatres.
I hope all three of these clowns get the opportunity to kiss Barry Benghazi’s @$$ at the screening. It shouldn’t be too tough now that Barry is in a good mood after having the entire state controlled “media” line up to kiss his @$$ at the commies’ so called “press conference” today. The only thing missing was Big Bird and Tickle Me Elmo.
They waited until after the election? So they knew the FIX WAS IN?
just ruined it for me.. Now I can’t see it.
The Lincoln Lie, directed by Stevie Spielberg.
They ALL knew.
Leftist propaganda—like just about everything that comes out of the entertainment complex.
If all the conservatives stay home do they really think liberals/Dems will show up to see the movie? I have no intention of spending any of my money on a Spielberg movie.
I just love how Lincoln is now a liberal progressive in this new flick.
I’ve heard Day-Lewis gives a great performance, but I won’t see it, since I’ve also heard the actual history has been so twisted and massaged.
What we are seeing is the rewriting of history, same as the communists did in Soviet Russia years ago.
Lincoln was a Republican. Period. The Republicans were responsible (good or bad) for the massive federalization that happened during the Civil War. And with that, no matter how much Lincoln objected (and he did) came emancipation. The Emancipation Proclamation itself freed a very small number of slaves. Slaves in the North were not included in the decree, and slaves in the South were not affected because their states were in rebellion.
The Civil Rights Act of the 60’s was also passed by Republicans, against the wishes of a Democratic South. But no one even remembers that anymore.
History has been whitewashed, and Lincoln has become Obama.
What happened to this country?
Spiel;berg: “Yes sir, vampires would make for a more interesting movie.”
Spielberg is the keynote speaker on the anniversary of the Gettysburg Address on Monday, Nov 19. I will be in Gettysburg this Saturday for the Day of Remembrance and the Illumination at the National Cemetery.
Lincoln and Obama are btw great achievers, Lincoln helped end slavery and also successfully prosecuted the civil war. Obama....I’ll think of something.
Maybe 0bama will learn something, despite the revisionist history.
Tickle Me Elmo? You are a little behind the times. Latest are Fondle Me Elmo and Fist Me Elmo.
If Spielberg made it, I’ll probably skip it. I hate to give him any money. Someday, I’ll find a used copy at Hastings and buy it so he doesn’t get any royalties if the movie isn’t progressive garbage.
...and Bugger Me Elmo.
LOL.
