unless you think of Putin while you look at him, which ruins it.

I do and it does.

Admittedly I am the outlier here but I like Bond movies that are fun. Gadgets, smarmy remarks, fantastic scenery, fast cars (and women) all make the movie more fun though admittedly less realistic.

Connery was best but I liked Brosnan and I even came to enjoy Moore. Jill St John was a fave Bond gal along with Jane Seymour and a bunch of others.

I can watch Diamonds are Forever anytime. Dittos to Live and Let Die, Die Another Day, Goldeneye and a bunch of others.

When Craig came on board I tried to like him but he just doesn't do it for me. Same thing with the herky-jerky film style. Good Lord when will that style (that started I believe at Carnegie Mellon and the graduates who went on to do Hill Street Blues and that genre TV) of photography finally die?

Skyfall looks interesting but I won't go to see it. When it's out on BluRay I might get it.

oh my just caught this on the Sun article.

The big bellowing notes – that suit Adele’s gutsy voice to a tee – have drawn comparisons to Shirley Bassey’s 1971 hit Diamonds Are Forever.

But some fans of the films think the song plays it too safe by sticking to the original seventies template, and the modern Daniel Craig movies would be better suited to an edgier sound.

Ahhh...yes...Howsabout Taylor Swift? Or the Dawn gal from Pomplamoose? Or the Black Eyed Peas? Any of those would be GREAT....right.

Agree with your main points. Connery was, of course, the ultimate Bond. Brosnan was/is my choice for #2. I thought he developed well into the franchise.
Hate the "herky-jerky" cinematography also. Craig has the potential, but I think he will be gone soon...one more I think and then its casting-call all over again.
(I am pushing for Jason Strahthan...Craig opened the doors for a 'shorter' Bond)

“When Craig came on board I tried to like him but he just doesn’t do it for me. Same thing with the herky-jerky film style.”

The herky-jerky filming that you and I both detest is, thankfully, gone from this Bond film.

I couldn’t stand Craig when he became the new Bond. After seeing Skyfall last night I can honestly say it wasn’t Craig’s fault — he actually plays a good Bond — it was the bad writing and direction of his previous films, not him.

I thought Skyfall was pretty good.

Oh, and this is the final 'Q' fr Lady Dench. The new 'M' looks interesting. John Cleese was a good stand-in; but, hate to say it, he is getting a bit long in the tooth.
The Franchise must go on..Replacements will be found.
