After a hard-fought race in a newly formed Arizona congressional district, Democrat Kyrsten Sinema was declared the winner today, becoming the first openly bisexual member of Congress.
Sinema, a former state senator, joins at least five openly gay Democrats who were elected to House seats, and Tammy Baldwin, who became the first openly gay candidate elected to the Senate.
When asked by ABCNews.com how it felt to be the first openly bisexual member of Congress, Sinema said, Weve made history, and were proud of that, but what I am interested in is making history by making things better for the people of Arizonas 9th Congressional District.
Sinema, 36, had a razor-thin lead on Election Night against her opponent, Tea Party candidate Vernon Parker, but she ultimately pulled ahead, finishing with a 6,000-vote edge over the Republican, the Associated Press reported today.

I don’t understand it. The “independent” redistricting commission (cough), redrew the districts to be “dem” friendly.
The “independent” on the commission is married to a Dem-party head. Which way do you think she leaned?
Right. These so-called “non partisan” commissions often put liberal “independents” on board to give the Dems a majority. If there are going to be commissions they should be bi-partisan to where this little trick cannot be played.
From all I am learning here about this situation, maybe he was *Col Allen West-ed* ?!
Has anyone examined the counts for fishyness ?
Nothing about this election would surprise me.
The anti-Sinema campaign material made it clear that Sinema was opposed to normal behavior. She described stay-at-home moms as “leeches” on society.
Describing Arizona as “under-taxed”, state senator Sinema advocated increasing the sales tax, instituting a state property tax, and taxing plastic and paper bags at 25 cents and 15 cents respectively. Just as she never met a gender she didn’t like, she never met a tax she didn’t like.
Sadly, I live in her congressional district.
Time for me to run as America’s first Vulcan....\\//
Gov. Brewer tried to stop it. Court shut down the complaints (of course) and here we are.
I’m 1/2 mile away. Wendy Rogers did a great job working (after she came in either 2nd or 3rd) in the primary. What Vernon did to campaign, I’m not sure. Sepulvada, I’m not sure if he supported Parker in the General.

Other than being somewhat of a ‘deviate’ what else has she accomplished in life and what is to be ‘proud’ of?
I guess the only personal accomplishment one needs today is do something that is considered ‘different’ by the majority of folks.
Go figure...
She had to rebel after her “Mormon” upbringing.

The people in Arizona need to take a good look at their culture if they expect support from outsiders on their problems with the Fed. Being an ex Arizonian of WWII days I find the societal changes astounding.
I’ve lived here my whole life and the last 20 years have been sad with respect to many of the changes here that we are told to “celebrate”.
I am pretty sure that Vernon Parker came in second. IMHO he was a very good candidate. After this entire election season I am thinking that maybe the world is flat after all.
My nutty mother voted for Sinema.
We should go get a boat, and find out for ourselves. ;)
LOL
;)
I think that John Heinze-Kerry’s yacht should be sufficient. With plenty of cabana boys. lol That yacht is still moored in RI. We could make a real trip out of it. I’ll bet that yacht is pretty nice. Much nicer than my raft with a hole in it.
If I have to, and I have to in order to comment, think about being “openly gay” means, I get a picture in my mind of the Fulsom Stree Fair, the particular one that Zombietime photographed.
Really, what does it mean?
I suppose being “bi” gets one an extra chance at dates?
So, which C-SPAN channel is her daily show on and what time slot? Is it pay-per view?
