Will Texas secede? Petition reaches 25,000 signatures, triggering White House review

With more than 28,600 signatures collected since Nov. 9, a White House website petition from an Arlington, Texas man has attracted enough support to trigger an automatic review by the Obama administration.

Petitions submitted through the Obama White House’s “We the People” program “require a response” from the administration after they have attracted 25,000 signatures.

The Daily Caller reported Monday morning that since the day after President Barack Obama’s re-election, citizens from 20 states had submitted petitions asking for peaceful separations from the United States. (RELATED: White House website deluged with secession petitions from 20 states)

I come from a tiny town that entirely too many people have somehow heard of.

And hon, very little strikes fear in my heart. Talks of seceding just make me laugh. Keep it up. You felt the need to insult me why?

Look at the reasons given by Rick Perry. It is not going to happen. I live in San Antonio. You think we are going to give up three military bases? Ft Hood is the biggest post in the country. We are not giving up federal funds. And last reason, we are very, very patriotic and love this country. (

Signing these petitions only gives a list of names to the White Hut to use and abuse. IRS audits at first, but also possible placement on a terrorist watch list, contacting employers, etc. Not worth it IMHO, since if roughly 60 million voted for Romney and will now be ignored and/or ridiculed, what does anyone think a measley 25K on a petition will do? Better to contact your state legislators and governor.

“You think we are going to give up three military bases?”

Or their Social Security and Medicare.
The secession now posters never seem to think about that.
Texas isn’t going anywhere.
Still just for entertainment value the threads are fun to read.

Lots of people don’t know this, but when Texas joined the Union, it was written that Texas could leave the Union anytime it decided to.

. You think we are going to give up three military bases? Ft Hood is the biggest post in the country.

Why on earth would any state give up military bases? They are going to need them if they are independent nations.

We are not giving up federal funds.

That has to be the most unbelievable statement of all. What would we ever do without the federal government giving our money back to us?

And last reason, we are very, very patriotic and love this country.

Your country left you for a co-dependent relationship with Reid and Obama. You really aren't grasping that you didn't just lose an election. Do the math and see what things are going to look like in four years.

Bill Clinton triangulated and came back as a pseudo conservative-centrist to get re-elected. The end result was that he didn't move the country that far left. Obama doubled down on his extremism and won it all. The next republican candidate will either need to be to the left of Clinton so as not to scare the horses, or be a complete break-the-mold radical and sell it to a nation that has already decided on its path left.

I wouldn't bet money on the latter.

Hey, Dallas, we won’t need federal funds once we kick out the illegals. But we’ll take any citizen of other states.

Actually, I believe Nobama would approve of it. He wants to destroy the US. What better way to destroy the Union than to let it break up?

Texas seceded in 1861 by the vote of the legislature and the vote of the people. Since that time the People of Texas have not asked to rejoin the Union. The Union put carpet baggers in charge after the war, or Texas would still be a Republic in practice.

If a petition gets 25,000 signatures within a month the White House staff will "review it, ensure it's sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response."

King ChoomBama's IS amused. "Say what? You want outta my Hood?"

Texas only gets back about 20 % of the federal taxes paid by Texans. So we could have the same level of services and keep 80 cents of ever dollar we have been giving uncle sam.
