Virgil Goode got 1 vote in 3 of the precincts where Romney got 0.
So, there was one conservative hiding in those precincts, and he figured his vote didn’t matter, or on principle, he decided he was going to vote for Virgil, the true conservative.
There were people who decided they couldn’t vote for Obama, but in no way were they willing to help Romney get elected, because of the “Republican” name, so they voted for Johnson, or Virgil, or one of the other candidates.
Overall, those candidates got very few votes, not like Nader in 2000.
