And now on 166 XM
I just found a house closer to our oldest son. We’re about 6 blocks from him now. This one is maybe 3 blocks but on his other side if that makes sense. It’s in the city but like his place fringe and a great neighborhood.
Best part is it’s on the top of the hill he is on and with a fantastic view of the Chartiers valley. You can see out to Robinson Towne Center and beyond...quite a distance.
The house is newish split ranch with 2 fireplaces, internal garage, great yard with plenty of garden and wonderful spots for my weather station, webcams and shortwave radio antenna! It’s on a dead end flat street with a major road at one end and a park area on the other.
Nice attached garden shed with windows so youncould start plants early.
Covered patio, nice kitchen and finished family room. It is actually laid out very similar to our apartment.
Asking $107,000.
I am so tempted....if I had the money, LOL!
But then it would be back to taxes, lawn care ...and since it’s landscaped that won’t be cheap...shoveling snow and keeping up wih things that happen..
Think we’ll stay put!
Got to get some sleep!
Woohoo! Outer banks! Pics...lots of pics!
I called comcast. The Triple play doesn’t apply to us since we already have all three in the bundle. You added something new - the land line. Nevertheless, we did get a small cut in the amount. Every little bit helps. Plus, we don’t have a contract, which I didn’t really want anyway.
Son and wife are talking about living in or near Pittsburgh now, though they had a bit of a pause after they saw how wild things got when Sandy hit the highly populated area in NY area. I’ll have to tell them about the area your son lives in. The price you named was in their price range. What school district is that? DIL would love the shopping areas. She loves IKEA, and I know that’s nearby!
We haven’t watched any news shows either GB. Too depressing. Every time I check a news network - even Fox - I see the pResident’s face. I can’t stand seeing or hearing him! It angers me that he is allowed to occupy our White House. I have nothing but disdain for those who stayed home and didn’t vote, or those conservatives who voted third party. In spite of all that, though, I really think it boils down to voter fraud. Ladysmith is right. We need to fix our election system by insuring that voter fraud can’t happen. There is voter ID in every state in which the evil snake obam lost. What does that tell you?
Anyway, I think I might get Mr D a Roku for Christmas. In fact, I might get son and his wife one as well.
I’m too depressed to think about the next election......
Go to their site there are different models use my name and I can get a free movie. Some conservatives they screwed us and them. The XS model I got has has a hookup for wireless and a hard wire hookup network cable from the router. I do believe all other models have wireless hookup.
Getting ready to go up town - mostly window shopping for Christmas ideas. I wonder if we can keep what we have and use the Roku for a second tv? Does it work like that? I am too cheap to get a box for the tv in Mr S’s man cave.
The downside isiit’s the city of Pgh. City schools, city taxes. For a young couple it wouldn’t be bad until thr kids come. Then it’s cuty schools until high scool. A t that point they could go to Bishop Canevin HS which is esay walking distance.
When I get to my dektop I’ll FReep mail you the listing.
OK guys, Question: What exactly does ROKU do? Can you watch live news? Like can I watch FoxNews live? What do you pay for? I am new to all of this stuff. I guess you pay a nominal monthly fee for Netflix? What exactly IS Netflix? Isn’t that a service with all movies?
Help me out here. We want to get our son and his wife one for Christmas. They already have Netflix. Hubby sounds interested now that we checked them out at Walmart, but doesn’t want to turn off the cable tv. We don’t watch a ton of movies but like history shows, documentaries, American Pickers, Ghost Adventures (yeah, we like that stuff! lol!), Food Network, etc. Can we get stuff like that? I guess the only live tv we’d want is news and weather. I guess I can listen to radio live as well, since you can listen to Quinn & Rose?
Some guidance appreciated! :-)

Is be tempted too!
Because you ALWAYS have that nice BIG family room area in the lower level of most split levels (which is ready finished) and that it has a flat yard (a Pittsburgh rarity). BUT...do I ever understand property taxes and upkeep. It’s something to think about (especially if 1. It’s been on the market over 45 days OR if a foreclosure (maybe lender would do a short sale?!?)).
When my daughter was looking (almost 3 years ago—did that time go fast) I found her a 48 foot, Ryan built split. Big “L” shaped eik w/a pantry; finished LL w/FP; 2 1/2 baths; 3 BR...and future son in law informed us “he doesn’t like the split concept.” Okaaaay....so they bought a tiny Cape Cod (big on charm, small on space) that now they both say is too small (baby stuff is taking over).
If they had at least LOOKED at the split level...(that’s why they involved me as an ex RE). Sigh.
A lot of it is VOD but Fox is live 9 AM to 3 PM..UDTVNOW has local channels from PA but Harrisburg..espn History etc..for about 29 dollars a month. www.roku.com check it out AM amd P6 can explain it better..hey where is AM??
