Alaska would be better off under russian occupation ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....................We must us every avenue of annoyance and disruption that alynski has to offer. Use thier medicine against them. OVERWHELM THE SYSYTEM
Sorry to not getting back at you sooner, just woke up a little while ago, getting ready for a supposed busy day driver the concrete mixer, its going to a Pentecostal church in Palmer. Weather in mat Su is mild, just a trace of snow on the ground, Sarah Palin has been mostly silent on recent events. I honestly cannot comment on what is blowing around the valley about the election, I do know there is a lot of very disappointed people. They didn’t want to vote for Romney but did anyway, basically I get the impression many just did not go out and vote that they probably knew it was going to be a wasted effort.
Myself my job is about to seasonally end, maybe another week or two, all this season it has been almost like guarding a graveyard, dead slow, I only hired one driver for the whole summer season, when it got busy we hired temporary drivers who used to work for us and had the time from their other job.
I do believe Alaskans will whole hardheartedly endorse being an independent state, as you are aware its been a sore subject for decades. My plans of heading to Oz is still there, possibly just before breakup, if my passport application is rejected I will haul my trailer to Edmonton and work the oil patch for the summer. My year to date wages are half what they have been from years past, I am in debt big time, I may have to actually sell some of my guns.
Depends on how much Obama intrusion we get here in Alaska I suppose. i stockpiled over 130 gallon sized cans of the Auguson Farms freeze dried foods, thats enough for me to live on for a year. If I had a moose to harvest I can get another years worth of meat. have to wait and see, last I heard some group wants to relocate all the Valley moose.
I think its because Fish and Feathers believe the people will start to massively poach, and that quite possible since salmon season was a total bust. I hope you have prepped for a long winter and ALL your needs have been addressed. I still need more stored water cause my well has nasty water full of iron. Good Luck to you and happy hunting!
“I couldnt live anywheres else and really be happy.”
I lived in AK from ‘71 - ‘89. I’ve never been happier than there. There was true tolerance and honesty. Polical correctness didn’t exist. People were independent. The mindset was liberating. It spoiled me when it comes to living free and speaking freely. When coming to the Lower 48, I learned that every word and thought had to be processed and calculated to determine who might be offended, what was politically correct, etc. When in Alaska, that wasn’t an issue. Sure, people had their toes stepped on now and then, including myself, but nobody took it personally. You accepted the opinions of others and they accepted yours. No righteous indignation or recriminations. Of course, that was then and this is now; I suppose a lot of that has changed, but it was wonderful then.
My left wing niece and her progressive husband moved from Oregon to Anchorage and insist on both intolerance and political correctness. It might not be the same now
It has changed a small bit in Anchorage and some places out here in the Valley, such as a lot of rowdy bars closing and a slew that are now non-smoking. A lot more people live here than when I first arrived in 1992, traffic is a nightmare at times in Wasilla, never really had that problem before.
I could never ever leave Alaska for the lower 48, I could and may indeed leave Alaska for another country, but thats because I am a seasonal worker, where I live I do not have many other job options during the winter.
So far AK, TX and LA. I wish FL was next.

I say let free people decide what unions they join.
Socialist and statists object because the need to keep productive people captive in their utopia to keep up the standard of living to a point just above the revolt level.
And - I totally disagree with your statement that Alaska is poor. I think if Alaska was a separate nation within 4 years the people of alaska would the wealthiest in the world. Removal of just a few of the federal restrictions placed on Alaska could unleash untold wealth.
My fellow Alaskans...
I bet renewed interest in cashing out the PFD takes hold. No more yearly Permanent Fund Dividend payed each year to every legal Alaskan resident.
We do have a lot of welfare families up here and Alaskans do have a boom or bust mentalty, they would rather gamble with getting a many thousands of dollars PFD cashout than a continued steadily dropping in size PFD check or deposit.
Nice Johnny Horton reference!
Did they pee in your fruit loops?

Even worse...they peed in my coffee. Can’t have that.
You ingrateful sot you.

I’m not the ungrateful snot. The citizens of Alaska that want to become an independent nation are the ungrateful folks.
There probably isn’t a state in the union that doesn’t have more federal land than they would like to see. Land that someone would like to use and or exploit for profit. Pffft.
re oil: Alaska doesn’t ‘own’ the oil. A big oil company owns the oil.
I'll answer this as if it is a serious question, though perhaps you meant it as a joke.
Of course the answer is "NONE". Alaska would be dissolving the Union with the Federal Government and all lands in Alaska would cede back to the State.
As an aside the US Constitution attempted to safeguard against FedGov as the owner of huge chunks of land. The founders had already been through that system in England, thank you very much. That's why the only Constitutional piece of federal land are the various forts and DC, which was limited to 10 square miles for a reason.
It's not just Alaska where FedGov owns way too much land, it's much of the West. Lately they have taken to not even maintaining (or allowing to be maintained) roads that have been in place for 50 years or more. There are many parts of the Gifford-Pinchot forest that are essentially being put off limits to people by the deliberate closing of roads and allowing them to overgrow. This includes roads with fully concrete bridges on them!
It would have been nice if someone with some English skills had looked that over before it was submitted.
I was being 97% sarcastic.
Sorry if I mislead anyone.
But I would rate Putin’s Russian Orthodox over Baraq’s Commie Muslim.
