Women who are:
(a) obsessed with physical fitness (e.g.. they spend hours at the gym or jogging in order to have a "hot body"); and

... are trouble with a capital T.

They are apt to be narcissistic b______s who will take terrible revenge on a man for daring to drop them -- or on rival women for daring to compete.

Once a guy realizes this, I would think he would be repelled by "the look"...

I used to have arguments with a friend who was basically gorgeous and had really good “work” on her face to stay that way. She was furious that BarbBush didn’t plastify her face. To which I responded, She has nothing to prove to anyone. Perhaps Holly feels that way too.

I guess you can go on with plastic surgery if you do a little at a time. But one would think you;d have to start early or at least before the change would be really radical.

I saw Before photos of some woman in a sitcom and honestly, it looked like she had an entire new head. Scary. Or perhaps the same head on a new body. Interchangeability is the surgery of the future.

Good question. What if she did? Which might explain why Broadwell told her to get away from him. The general undoubtedly has a huge ego and feels, or at least felt, invincible. He thought he could handle these women, ...in both senses of the word. Ah, hubris.

We have lower standards for military success these days. In the old days P4 would not even rank. Their were many nameless British officers with their Indian Sepoys and Martini Henry rifles who subdued these same foes over 100 years ago. They would march into Waziristan and lay waste to the villages and crops of the recalcitrant tribes. The tribes would submit within a few months. P4 with the resources and technology of a 21st Century superpower cannot accomplish what Tommy Atkins did in the 19th Century. Generals Roberts and Wolseley would consider him a loser.

Well said. And is there anything more pathetic than a 60-yr old woman who is trying to look as if she's still 40? or 30 or 20?

For those FReepers who criticize the way Holly Petraeus looks ... do you realize how many hours, and how much make-up and/or plastic surgery it takes to even try to look "hot" at age 60? Especially after having borne children?

Such self-obsession, particularly at that age, would be unseemly, to put it mildly.

My lovely, loving grandmother would never have given a thought to trying to look "hot" at age 60. By that age she was wrinkled, and her hair was all white; and after bearing five children, she had gradually lost her shape.

I think grandpa loved her all the same, unless he was putting on an awfully good act. When she cared for grandpa through his final illness, I don't think he ever wished that she would work harder on her looks.

I guess marriage in America isn't like that anymore. I find that sad.

That little cultural commentary aside: It's obvious there is a lot more here to Petraeus's resignation than an affair.
