Not to mention the teachers. Oh, don't get me started on the most pampered, over protected, over paid (YES, OVERPAID), corrupt, and rather un-intelligent sector of our society. Yes, I'm generalizing - but it's ok - because I admit I'm generalizing. I think the small percentage of teachers worth a damn would agree with me too! Union thugs who work part time til 52 and retire? Not so much.

Almost every classroom (and guidance office) in my rural public high school has a picture of the “holy couple” (barry and wifey...the same picture...must have been distributed) on the wall. To motivate students, teachers chant “yes, you can”. On Thursday, students from the SCA brought me an “educators for obama” campaign poster to hang on my wall (I teach English, and was told that post election it is ok to display). Because I did not hang it immediately (nor will I ever) I had to abandon the lesson and spend the rest of the class explaining the threat of propaganda to free thinking and the responsibility of teachers to be nonpartisan. It is frightening to think about what goes on in DC, but public education is the untold horror story...I used to think I could make a difference, but it really is over.
