“They do not believe we of gone off the cliff or are close to going off the cliff.”

Having read numerous leftist comments and websites over the years, and a lot more recently, I can tell you this is the crux.

The average Democrat simply believes there is so much money held by rich folk and companies it will NEVER run out. (Amazing, when you think how they believe our oxygen is practically gone and the damage a single SUV can do to the earth).

When you press them, they say, Ridiculous, there is plenty of money. The capitalists/bosses/government/rich people are just being selfish and lying, nothing is going to happen. They have so much money, they can pay all that Obamacare pensions taxes etc and it’s all there and the right wing crazies who get all their idiotic news from Malkin and Fox and Hannity will see the world won’t end tomorrow.

They really believe this, but as they talk, you can see they truly don’t understand what is necessary to run a business. My favorite recent comment - “The bosses are just selfish - giving healthcare shouldn’t cost a business more than an extra 5%”

To: I still care

What they miss is that so much wealth is held in forms that are not yet taxable. That is next: taxing total assets, along w/higher property taxes for some professions, such as physicians and extra state taxes for physicians, to start and then anyone else with assets over $1M, soon to be assets over $750k and so on. I understand the State of MN already adds 2% to physicians’ state income tax (this is anecdotal, so I am not certain) and I have read that they are investigating how to increase their property taxes, as well.

Under this scenario, there will be *enough* for *a while*.
