We are not outnumbered
The American Thinker ^ | November 11, 2012 | Brian T. Carter

Posted on 11/11/2012 1:57:17 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

There are at least three options in how conservatives respond to the election results:............

Third, conservatives can focus on turning out voters more likely to vote for conservatives. The pre-election polls were correct. Therefore, shouldn't conservatives also trust numerous polls showing that a slight majority of Americans are pro-life (CNN, Gallup), that a large majority of Americans oppose ObamaCare (NYT/CBS, WaPo), that a large majority of Americans (including many Hispanics) oppose amnesty (CNN), and a plurality of Americans consider themselves conservative? These polls suggest that conservatives are not outnumbered.

Newt Gingrich was successful in nationalizing house races in 1994 because he took a list of conservative issues that polled well and emphasized them in the Contract with America. That was simple and worked well. Assuming that conservatives are not willing to give up or surrender their beliefs, which seems more likely to yield success: converting liberal "drones," or convincing non-voting conservatives to vote?

Perhaps the question is debatable, but why don't they vote?

The following are only anecdotal evidence, but there is every reason to believe that these examples apply more broadly.

As a contractor working in Afghanistan, everybody in my office has a vested personal interest in avoiding defense cuts. Yet of the five people in my office, I am the only person who voted. Why?............................

If citizens either fail to grasp the seriousness of the situation or don't believe that voting has an impact, obviously those citizens won't make the effort to vote. Still, surely, reaching these potential votes is far easier than reaching liberal drones.

Conservatives are not outnumbered, although America might be close to the tipping point. The liberal societal sponge vision did not win on the philosophical battlefield, even while the liberals won the election.

If enough people did as this guy then it explains why the polls were wrong. Enough people told the pollsters one thing and voted another.

Yes WE are outnumbered! Who is WE? “We” are not just conservatives, “we” are Patriots that didn’t want Obama finishing off the USA. And if a “conservative” stayed home, then s/he is not part of “We”. So We are outnumbered, the math is simple, “they” got more votes than “we” did...that’s called outnumbered. STOP PUTTING HOPE INTO THE FORMULA, IT IS NOT A STRATEGY. This country is now doomed thanks to a bunch of people that don’t care enough to save it. My feeling toward anybody who didn’t step forward to save us from OBAMA’S Amerika is a traitor... democrat or “conservative.”

You are so right. America is headed into some very hard times..No one will escape the mourning. The coming atrocities will be unbelievable. Only those who believe in God will find any measure of peace. Consider the “demographics” we are hearing so much about and then try to imagine what kind of wisdom resides inside those ranks. We have seen this before throughout history, but , of course, one needs to be aware of history to connect to those lessons.

BREAKING: St. Lucie County, Florida Had 141.1% Turnout; Obama Won County
http://www.ihatethemedia.com/breaking-st-lucie-county-florida-had-1411-turnout-obama-won-county

Between St. Lucie and Broward Counties, we have a pretty good idea what happened in Florida. Normal voting is what, 50% turnout? It doesn’t take many counties like this to affect an entire state by multiple percentage points.

All of these numbers between 99% (Pennsylvania) and 141.1% (Florida) turnout in dozens of counties in swing states makes me think Team Obama was panicking a lot just before the election, with Mitt up by 7% in certain early voting polls.
They overcompensated so much the fraud is impossible to hide. I think they know it, which may be one reason Axelrod is stepping down. (Sound familiar Petraeus and Benghazi?)

As I told someone earlier today, this is who Obama is. This is who Chicago (the machine) is.
Do we really want this to be who America is?
Is this how we will define our elections from 2008 on? As Mitt says, “America can do better.”
We must do better. We can’t let the message be out there that America will let this fraud go.

Want to do something about all of this? Tiffany Banks and Darin Southam forwarded me a list of people you can contact who are in the November 9, 2012 3:12 PM comment below.

Did you know voters can request a recount in certain states? (Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Wisconsin!) Take a look at the comment by @RightonMainSt dated November 9, 2012 11:45 PM below for instructions! Mitt will have to ask in Colorado himself. (Yes, you Mitt!)

It has also been suggested that we ask Republican Secretaries of State NOT to certify the election until all questions about voter fraud are abated.
Some people think this may provoke a crisis, but it can’t be worse than the one we are looking at for the next four years and the impact on generations to come!
America NEEDS Mitt, and Mitt won fair and square. This was not a ballot stuffing competition but an election. Let’s make sure it’s counted that way!

Thank you all. Over 7,500 people have visited this page in the first 24 hours and I hope millions will see it eventually. Please pass it on! We can do this! (Yes we can!)

We must act NOW.

Start with the election. If we let the Rats get away with this massive voter fraud, we're no better than a bananna republic.

We must keep digging and pounding him every day, in every way we can- phony birth certificate, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, his hidden life, records....

I am convinced that there was massive voter fraud.

I am also convinced that Romney and his organization blew it in the same way McCain did.

Not in his public appearances, which were very good, but in his treatment of Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, Gingrich and others who have great crowd appeal, but even more important, really good ideas and the ability to captivate people with those ideas.

Shutting those out turned off a huge number of conservatives.

Of course there was voter fraud. Counties voting almost twice their registered voters.

Fortunately, there are two electorates out there - the off-year and the presidential. The freebie zombies don’t come out in hordes like they do in presidential elections. That’s when we strike back. They don’t know their own congressman anyway.

Threatened Democrats in 2014 include Sens. Mark Begich (Alaska), Al Franken (Minn.), Tim Johnson (S.D.), Mark Pryor (Ark.), John Rockefeller (W.Va.) and Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.).

Other Democrats are running in Republican-leaning states — Sens. Max Baucus (Mont.) and Mary Landrieu (La.) — or swing states — Sens. Kay Hagan (N.C.) and Mark Warner (Va.).

It is going to be interesting to see what support the Marxist gets from his own party these next four years. And the Clinton revenge is coming.

A good op-ed excerpt on the topic:

The huge Republican 2010 takeover of the House was authenticated and cemented as not comprising merely an aberrational “wave election.” When people voted for their deepest, most direct concerns at home, they chose Republicans to control the House. Three new “Tea Party”-quality U.S. senators were elected: Deb Fischer in Nebraska, Jeff Flake in Arizona, Ted Cruz in Texas. Even in the U.S. Senate, Republicans would have held our numbers if not for two fools — one in Missouri and one in Indiana — who did to us this year what Christine O'Donnell and Sharron Angle did two years ago, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

But even there, in the Senate, hidden beneath and embedded within the numbers, there has been a tidal change toward bedrock conservatism. The most liberal and the most compromised of Republican senators are disappearing, having been replaced in only these past two years by the likes of Jim DeMint (the only one predating 2010), Kelly Ayotte, Ted Cruz, Deb Fischer, Jeff Flake, Ron Johnson, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Pat Toomey, and several others who will not vote for a repeat of George W. Bush budgets with trillion-dollar deficits, for bridges to nowhere, for restricting oil leases and for expanding the federal budget. If not for the four flops — the Akin, Angle, Mourdock, and O'Donnell stumbles of a newly emerging powerful grassroots force for authentic yet reasonable and skillful conservatives — Republicans now would be only two takeovers away from controlling both Houses, and controlling them with authentically conservative agendas. That is just around the corner.

All this movement to dynamic bedrock conservatism has surged forward in only two years, notwithstanding the “changing face of the electorate.” And what do you call Susana Martinez, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz? Or Bobby Jindal, Nikki Haley, and Brian Sandoval? We built that. The midterm elections in 2014 almost surely will result in another Republican-conservative wave advance. And when 2016 comes, Republicans will get to choose from one heck of a fabulous bumper crop of youthful yet legislatively experienced superstars, bona-fide presidential contenders, bona-fide presidential contenders with proven experience in being reasonable and reaching across the aisle without sacrificing principle, while the Democrats will be selecting from the likes of septuagenarians Biden and Hillary, and liberal Northeasterners like Cuomo. (Or as I might add the corrupt charlatan Villarosa from bankrupt LA)

And that is cool.”

Read Post #31. We ARE taking over the GOP. It wasn't going to happen over night and they weren't going to take it sitting down, but it HAS begun.

Today 04:04 AM - in reply to cp97816, Sally Zelikovsky answered a gloating commenter to her What Conservatives Need article, wrote this:

"Maybe the media should stop pressing pundits for predictions and we should all just wait until election night. And not all of them predicted a landslide. Polls were tight. What you did see in the last weeks of the election was a jazzed republican electorate and a tepid democrat electorate. Obama had trouble admitted by both sides getting numbers, enthusiasm....even the O campaign was worried. What happened to all of that momentum and enthusiasm? Did it disappear? Was it never there (were both sides lying? blind?). As for the country not agreeing? Please, it was almost a dead heat in the end in terms of the popular vote and the popular vote elects the House...this country is evenly divided. As for our ideas? THe press and academy control the narrative....and as for ignoring the loss, that won't happen. You have awakened a sleeping giant in 2008 and now that giant is ticked off."

It comes down to this simple fact, we have to give people something to vote for. Until we do that, we will continue to be the minority. I am not talking about changing what we believe, I am talking about selling it to enough people in a united way so that we win elections and are able to implement policy. It will be difficult, but we need to find a way to talk above the rabble and I think the only way to do that is to cobble together a coalition that is separate from the Republican party.

......I think we need to face the fact that the ELECTION polls are right and these attitude polls, while they may be accurate, are extremely limited in their relationship to voting.

I believe there are different polls for different things. A lot of polls are worded to get the wanted outcome - social issues. Often it's impossible to know what someone's answer really meant - how someone feels about a very generally worded question/topic. Such as, Are you against "such and such?" You can be agreeing by being against, and visa versa. But it's all lumped into one pile.

Then polls for or against a person are another animal indeed.

.....I totally disagree with the conclusion that Mitt Romney did not want to win. The man was over the top with desire to win. And his turnout at rally supporters were equally over the top with it. I also read that his wife broke down weeping over the results, as she also wanted him to win so very badly.

He most certainly wanted to win (and his family stood with him and campaigned the entire way).

.....And that is true if you are a TP candidate or just a regular GOP candidate.

Yes! Candidates must be able to articulate their positions. Having your heart in the right place is not enough. Politics is rough and tumble and you need enough skill and talent to win.

I don’t think you fully understand......we have run out of time. A sprinkling of a few conservative new Republicans (of whom will become corrupted shortly or put into their place by the “big dogs”) means nothing.

We have simply run out of time and the Republican party does not reflect the desires of the common working citizen. It never has and never will.

The next four years will completely destroy our heritage, freedoms, morals and lifestyles.

Over the past years we squandered our use of time and voted for the party and not the participants within the party. I’ve heard time and time again “that a vote for the man rather than the party was a wasted vote” and look where it has brought us by voting straight line Republican.

It’s over. We have passed the tilting point and from here on out we can only try to survive the oncoming onslaught by curling up in the fetal position and by kidding ourselves that somehow the Republican party can be “fixed.”

No, only a brand new party that reflects true conservatives (and discouraged liberals and Democrats) that the only way we can reach this goal is to scrap all laws, regulations and directions that conflict directly with the Constitution. By the way, I mean the ORIGINAL Constitution...not the newly invented LIVING Constitution.

Interesting article, but strange. He describes a lot of timid, uninvolved people and concludes that bold leadership is necessary.

Maybe. Perhaps strong, courageous leadership would embolden these people to take more interest in politics, but from everything he says, I wouldn't count on it. Nobody that he mentions sounds very committed ideologically.

That could be the problem: people are neither hot nor cold. Leaders as timid and withdrawn as themselves leave them unimpressed and uninspired, but a more ideologically rigorous approach would also turn them off.

These people will never take much interest in politics until they really feel it where it hurts, but I wonder if one lesson may be that a multi-party system where people can more easily find a candidate who fits their own views and level of ideological commitment is preferable to what we have now.
