Don’t ya just love the Times’ leaving out the fact that Obama sandbagged the bargaining with a bunch of 11th hour demands? Goofs.
As for Boehner...there’s no doubt the GOP got drubbed on election day this time. But I also don’t think Obama’s mandate is as large as some think. Romney was pretty close in the popular vote, and Obamacare is still very unpopular. I’m not saying there isn’t a lot of work to be done, because there is. And the House GOP is probably going to have to take a bite of a metaphorical sandwich known for having a rather unpleasant filling a time or two in the next couple of years. But I don’t think it’s white flag time, or anywhere near it.
