To: Salamander

When the tremor happened today, both of our laptops were on, then they went to black screen of death with words like “crash dump”. We did the auto recover/repair and got both back, but it was odd that both were impacted. It didn’t seem that strong.

That’s exceedingly odd because laptops have batteries which generally protect them from sudden power losses and so forth.

Which makes me wonder about this

Are you both running Bluetooth/WiFi connections?

If you’re not pulling our legs, back up anything you actually value NOW! Set back some money, keep real good backups starting immediately, and take inventory of your OS discs or install media...any shock to the device strong enough to cause that means you’re most likely gonna be replacing hard drives Real Soon Now.
