Diesels are more expensive and are louder but they last longer - just like diesel vehicles.

People forget home heating oil is diesel.... If you heat with oil you have a fuel station at your house for emergencies of the generator and vehicle kind....

Yeah, they look about $1.5K and up, whereas I could get a cheapo gas one for $300 or so. Guess I’ve got some homework to do researching them (and some saving up).
Definitely looks like a worthwhile investment for SHTF scenarios.
Although the noise tends to attract thieves - my folks live by the Jersey shore & had to turn off & hide their generator at night.
