House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) called it "critical" to avoid automatic spending cuts and tax-rate increases that could go into effect if Congress does not agree on a deficit-reduction plan.
Boehner's call during the weekly Republican address came after a week in which Republicans and Democrats moved away from focusing on Tuesday's presidential election and toward immigration reform and a deal to avoid the so-called "fiscal cliff."
Boehner urged Congress to begin action on job creation and deficit reduction.

We don't need more "negotiations" that we always lose out on. America is on life support and negotiations will not save her. The only way to save America at this point is to let it crash and rebuild the right way. No more ghetto mooches. No more "freebies".

I agree with you and it would be nice if what Boehner said was code for doing just that: give King Hussein everything he wants and let it burn.
To: tobyhill
At this point, going off the fiscal cliff is the best thing that could happen to America.
Burn, baby, burn.

"Because if there was a mandate in this election, it was a mandate to work together to do whats in the best interest of our country. And right now whats best is getting our economy moving again and keeping it moving, so we can begin to restore our childrens future." Did Boehner say, "He won."? Six trillion dollars later ... it's all about the children. This guy's on our side?
Won't anyone think of the children?!

We should avoid votes - or vote 'present'. Let the whole stinking mess belong to democrats.
It'll be fun watching the suck-ups at the New York Times spin the horror as our fault if we just let the dems do whatever the hell they want. Higher taxes? Fine. Sock it to the folks who create jobs. Go for it. More funds for lowlifes? Sure - bankrupt the country. They won the election the old fashion Chicago Way - they cheated...

What’s ‘best’ is for us to stand out of the way and let them destroy the country. Then enjoy the fun of watching the MSM try to blame conservatives for the horrors to come.

I just finished a new email to my congressman to remind him that the GOP still holds a firm majority in the house and did quite well in many races across the nation.
I ended by saying that I sincerely hope that there is a serious move afoot to remove the current speaker and replace him with one who understands what the word “majority” means.

Boehner is a god example of untreated liberal senile dementia.
He is now a virtual dim-bulb-crat and should be treated with all the contempt it deserves.

He has waited for this moment to be the crying liberal house leader.
That's exactly what he did. He's kept his head down for a couple of months only to wait till he has the longest possible period to the next election to pop up wearing his donkey pin.

What is Boehner negotiating? The Bush Tax Cuts expire and Obama gets his tax increase without doing a thing and the GOP doesn't have to take one ounce of blame. Just get out of the freakin way and let it crash.

"...give King Hussein everything he wants and let it burn."
They could do that, but in the end, the Republicans would be blamed for it anyway.

To: tobyhill
No, Bonehead----it was a mandate to give more freebies or else.
To Boehner, working with Dems means caving competely.
