Are you joking? He lost re-election 60-40. Probably the largest losing margin for an incumbent senator ever (at least for one who was not involved in any kind of scandal).

Lets not forget that he tied Romney in the Michigan primary as well. That alone didn’t bode well for Romney considering the fact that in 08 Romney flogged McCain here by nearly 10 points. Romney ran a Detroit centered race and won in places that were the least likely to vote for him in the general.

Talk is so cheap after an election. Woulda coulda shoulda grows on trees. Santorum proved himself to be an inept loser, even worse than Romney, but he has one idea in here that is important: This election was about ideology-- "vision" if you must--but not about demographics, soundbites, all the other rubbish.

I have said many times, the democrat platform has been unchanged since the 1930's and it was unchanged this year: "Vote for us and we will take money from other people and give it to you." As simple as it has always been.
