Ssi goes to some people too mentally ill to work like my relative. Mostly it was enough for him to scrape by while living homeless until he was struck by a car late at night while in the grips of a particularly bad flare-up of his mental illness. He had been taken into custody by law enforcement but shuffled straight back onto the street with a few pills, like a bandaid on a shot gun wound. He had been a smart and kind person but now is like a large infant with his brain damage.

sorry to hear that-I have an uncle-a Veteran- who we rescued from the streets where he was living due to his mental illness.Very difficult to deal with...
