Mittens inspired no conservative enthusiasm.
It should have clear all along he was going to lose but conservatives on here engaged in group-think, circled the wagons and chose to shut their ears and eyes to the evidence that Mittens was a terrible candidate who never stood a chance.
And the changing demographics of this country now make it very difficult for Republicans to win. The white vote nationwide is not enough and we’re being killed on the gender gap and with minorities.
Conservatism appeals to fewer and fewer voters with every passing election. And the paradox is if the only way we can win is be like the other guys we will lose because voters will always pick the real liberal over the pretend one.
There are no easy answers for our loss on Tuesday. But going down the same path in 2016 only guarantees us a renewed defeat.
I don’t think the majority of Freepers deluded themselves into thinking Mutt was a good/great candidate.
I think in the end we decided he’s all we got as a firewall and yes, there just wasn’t enough emotion invested in his product, which no one could identify with any certainty just what it was, what problem it solved and how we were going to be assured it did as advertised.
Mutt was an Oklahoma Weathervane and my own family, who are democrats(don’t ask me why) was ready to throw Barry overboard but, Barry’s FUD about Mutt was too strong for them to overcome and they voted to keep “Shiite Sandwich” on the menu.
Now, we all have to keep taking a bite of this Shiite Sandwich for the next four years and deal with the ensuing sickness it will cause for years.
Gonna need to find a penicillin of some sort once he’s gone and take pain killers in the mean time.
