I did not get to listen to Rush or anyone else very much today, because I was working.
As I drove home, I heard the self flaggelating diatribe that the republicans/conservatives had not
“courted” latinos, women, young people, etc., etc. I think if there is any failing in the conservative/republican community, I believe it is a failure to keep up with technology. Democrats spoke effusively about “targeting” potential voters a couple of years ago as they set up shop in Chicago. In my humble opinion, I believe it went well beyond “targeting” and into “data mining”.
It doesn’t take much imagination to see a “Lonely Hearts” posting on Facebook from a single woman or a “foreclosed” posting from a homeowner to a “late notice” from a student on their student loans to see there is a possibility.
Combine these postings with algorythyms and a street map and you have potential voter to contact.
In the good old days we used voter registration and walk lists to target our potential voters.
We need to catch up with technology. I don’t think “data mining” is illegal. Maybe it is just smart! Smart enough to zero in on certain electoral republican districts, i., West, Bachmann, Mack, Brown, etc., as well as the presidential election.
Yes, we need to catch up!
I think we have the technology.
Conservatives built most of that stuff, not art school drop outs.
The trick we need to learn is how to teach art school drop outs to become productive conservatives.
