Paul Ryan won't be helping Mitt Romney lead the country in a new direction from the White House. But the Wisconsin congressman famous for his small-government budget blueprints has emerged from his first national race with high visibility and a top spot on any list of 2016 presidential prospects.

At least we'd have a conservative candidate.

And I hope he learned to hate all the moderate handlers he was forced to bear, just like Sarah Palin. Bunch of losers.

I like Ryan. How about Ryan become a governor first - get some exec experience and give Governor Walker a chance for 2016?

I agree. Forget the Ryan talk. Scott Walker beat back the libs in Wisconsin, but Ryan couldn't hold the state for Romney.

I have only one thing to say on this, and I hope others agree how important it is.

What I have to say has zero, zilch, nada to with Paul Ryan. I think he’s a great guy.

However, from here on out I do not give a flying fig to hear what anyone at the LameStreamMedia - ABC/CBS/CNN/MSNBC/NBC/NPR wants to say about ANY potential or active GOP candidates.

There is zero distance between their prognostications and how much of their agenda they hope their thinking will serve.

Conservatives - abandon them for getting anything with which we want to identify our candidates. They only poison the well.

He could get a running start by soon campaigning for 2016.

Maybe someone could start a NEW HOUSE LEADER thread? Suggestions? phone calls???
We will know how serious the REPUBBIES are about listening to the people by their response or no....this could be a good starting point.

Gov. John Kasich of Ohio. Former member of Congress and Chairman of the House Budget Committee. Claims credit for the surpluses — at least on paper — during the Clinton / Gingrich years. Achilles heel is that he was working for Lehman Brothers in Columbus when they collapsed in 2008. The ‘RATS will have a heyday with that.

Mr. Washington D.C. insider, back for another term Ryan?

Congressman “send me some Obama-bucks” Ryan?

I don’t think so. Ryan may be a good guy, but he’s been tainted. We need someone from outside the Capitol Machine.

Scott Walker would be an excellent choice.

While I have a great deal of respect for Ryan, he is NOT the candidate that we would need in 2016. He is now tarnished goods, having been on the losing end of a ticket. He needs to become a governor or prominent senator and come to the table with a binder full of accomplishments (pun intended). He is young and will someday, likely, be a viable POTUS candidate. That time is NOT 2016.

We must move away from the social and moral issues. We need a fresh candidate that can draw in the libertarian leaners (which most of the young are). Short of that, it will be the same sh(t, different year. I’m convinced that the Rats will run Biden in 2016 - that is the fight we must begin scripting now.

Ryan and Walker are moderates and are too nice to win nationally.

“Ryan couldn’t win his own state”

If the GOP expects to win presidential elections they need to run conservative candidates who can at least deliver their own state's EV’s.

Ryan at the top of the ticket might be able to do it but I would not bet on it as WI is deeply blue in presidential elections...

Other ‘Pub governors who might fit the bill as either Pres or VP: Bob McDonnell (VA), Mike Pence (IN, incoming), Bobby Jindal (LA), Susana Martinez (NM), Nikki Haley (SC). And somewhere on the ticket, get Sen. Marco Rubio on board.

A big NO to: Chris Christie (NJ), Mitch Daniels (IN, outgoing).

Jindal would be my choice, has a track record of accomplishments the others can’t match. What’s your problem with Daniels??

Or Walker couldn't deliver the state for Romney-Ryan.

Bottom line...Obama stole this election and it makes no sense to blame our guys.

Our guys did their best against a corrupt Chicago machine gone national...and they lost.

Daniels has an emotionally unstable wife, it’s why he didn’t run this year. He will likely never run for national office.
