Five ways the mainstream media tipped the scales in favor of Obama

Fox News and other media outlets have projected that President Obama has been reelected to a second term. If, in celebrating his victory Obama wanted to give credit where credit is due, he might want to think about calling some of America's top journalists, since their favorable approach almost certainly made the difference between victory and defeat.

Reviewing the 2012 presidential campaign, here are five ways the media elite tipped the public relations scales in favor of the liberal Obama and against the conservative challenger Mitt Romney:

1. The Media’s Biased Gaffe Patrol Hammered Romney: The media unfairly jumped on inconsequential mistakes — or even invented controversies — from Romney and hyped them in to multi-day media “earthquakes.” Case in point: the GOP candidate’s trip to Europe and Israel in late July. A Media Research Center analysis of all 21 ABC, CBS and NBC evening news stories about Romney’s trip found that virtually all of them (18, or 86%) emphasized “diplomatic blunders,” “gaffes” or “missteps.”

“Conservative” or not, the author’s point is still valid: the media clearly took sides in this election, and probably dragged 0bama across the finish line for the win.

It didn’t matter whether the GOP nominated Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, Ronald Reagan, George Washington or Jeffrey Dahmer. The media was going to savage them any number of ways their incredibly fertile and evil minds could collectively come up with.

Foxnews can go rot in hell with the rest of Pravda. There was no difference between them and MSNBC last night.

Those things might have had some miniscule effect, but I think that between the electorate makeup, and the "Santa Claus" effect, obama would have won anyway.

A lot say that the Hurricane Sandy photo-opp "tipped the scales"...I say, "BS". Anyone with a brain larger than a molecule knows what obama has done, and is doing, to this country. The know him well enough to know what that dog-and-pony show on the Jersey Beach was all about, and would not be fooled by it.

Most of the gaffes were anecdotal occurances changed into "gaffes" by the adoring media. Rational people would not fall for those fairy tales nor change their votes because of them.

No, this election has been set from the beginning by the shift in American demographics. It was planned that way with amnesties, and other tricks to increase the democrat base.

Having said that, if those occurances did sway some Republicans/Independents, they were either stupid, or left-leaning anyway.

On the other hand, NOTHING that was said - even proven - against obama did a thing to decrease his base. Solidarity exists on the left, but not on the right. That's what the left counts on, getting us to fight and disagree amongst ourselves, using gaffes, religion, ideology, and yes - abortion, to split us all to pieces.

We have way too many single-issue voters, who can't see that you need to stop the plane from crashing, before you worry about changing the bulb in the reading lights.

Maybe the left is correct with their accusations of us being stupid. The time is come in America where - unless we see the wisdom of solidarity - we are doomed to third-worldliness.

Now, we're facing financial collapse, taxes, energy shortages, nuclear-equipped enemies, obamacare, and who knows what else because we don't like what? Mormanism?

It is the GOP that has its collective head up its collective butt, the left seems to know exactly what they way (even though we don't agree with it), and they stick together in their quest to achieve it. /rant off

You are so wrong... Well, you are right, which is why you are wrong. You said anyone with a brain.. well, guess what, a good 5% of voters basically HAVE no brain, and are easily swayed by things like Sandy. I am sure this had much to do with it. He was polling well above Obama until that storm hit. I mean, sure there are other reasons, but no Storm, and Romney is probably in.

... but the rest of the rant was rock solid! I think the most surprising thing about it, is how many Republicans did NOT vote this time. Because our guy was not perfect? Screw those people.
