Stocks took a sharp nosedive across the board Wednesday in the wake of President Barack Obama's re-election, triggered by worries over the looming "fiscal cliff" and as fears over Europe's economy reemerged.
The Dow fell below 13,000, while the S&P 500 traded under 1,400 for the first time since early September...

And so it begins.
> Hope you coal people in Ohio and PA are happy...those of you

Maybe they are. Not having to work, food stamps, free but low-quality healthcare, free phone, no car or a junker... what could be better!
I think your analysis is correct but feel compelled to say I despise the term "new normal"; it appears to be a tool of the left.
LOL good, this is what happens when idiots vote for Obama or don’t vote to get him out. Keep sliding and maybe people will learn.
We have been saying this at home, also, today. Just don't get it. Maybe those machines were adjusted to vote for Obama every time a vote was made for Mitt. How can we know when our votes disappear down rabbit holes? I was WAY more happy with Romney/Ryan than I was for McCain. That crowd enthusiasm did not register as votes?
401(k)s? YOU are their retirement plan. Oh, and they already 'retired' at 25.
Why? I don't see it.
Less than halfway into our Japanese Decade. The problem is, we're not Japan...
Well Dave ol pal, I spent 30 years in California (1976-2006)
and 21 years of it right on the beach. I would move back tomorrow if things were different. Prolly this time I would live on a nice boat in the Ventura Harbor. But things aren’t different. Hope all is (somewhat) well with you : )
Only for a few more years. Then I will become a taker, though I don't think many makers will be left by then.
We are fine as a family.
Living in the “New Normal” of rude/rash and threatening leftwingers in Californicator land will be tough.
We may see some of our producing younger relatives relocating to Texas or Idaho inspite of loving what California offers us re location/weather/oceans/mountains. Some own their businesses or at a high enough level to get the business decision to relocate.
The good news is that Prop 31 was defeated. The irony of that may be the Republican Party of California was for Prop 31, and that may have turned away the 60+% voting against it.
You underestimate the power of propaganda.
Just take a look at the lessons from history, 40 million people starved to death in China, and people there STILL loved Mao and believed that he could do no wrong. If that can happen, then anything is possible with the right propaganda machine, our economic pains are nothing compared to that.
“Not having to work, food stamps, free but low-quality healthcare, free phone, no car or a junker... what could be better!”
You just described many of the relatives of one of our in laws. She came from an area like this and paid for her own education and has a job where she works hard and gets paid fairly well.
She said that a large % of her male relatives in blue collar blue states love the stuff they get from the government. So they fish and hunt, drink beer and chase women, who aren’t their wives. Their wives get chased by guys like them.
Stocks down, did anyone check the sea levels in the North East? I heard they are supposed to go down....
James River Coal down 24%
Hope you coal people in Ohio and PA are happy...those of you who stayed home or voted for zero.
We deserve EXACTLY what we get, I can’t wait to chide the Libs in my life when Gas Prices get to be 15 dollars per gallon.
“The good news is that Prop 31 was defeated. The irony of that may be the Republican Party of California was for Prop 31, and that may have turned away the 60+% voting against it.”
Irony is right : )
Hasn’t even started yet.
The real panic will start setting in next week.
“Next stop......Depression.”
Hee Hee..... and the Bamster said the “the best is yet to come”. I love it. How low can it go?
