Ohio has been called for Barack Obama. Iowa went for Obama. Colorado went for Obama. Florida and Virginia have not been called yet, but those don’t look good, either. The Romney camp is disputing the Ohio call. Karl Rove on Fox News says it’s not over. But the numbers don’t add up for Romney. He was close. Valiantly close. But not close enough. (Update 12:57am – Romney called Obama to concede and delivered a gracious concession speech.)
The Romney/Ryan team fought well and hard, inspiring Republicans and conservatives across the country to get out the vote and fight for restoration of our founding principles and free enterprise.
We have so much to be proud of tonight:
*Diligent Tea Party activists grew the limited government movement and organized — producing winning candidates across the country at the local, state, and national levels.
*A new generation of citizen activists online helped contribute to the vigilant policing of media bias and White House lies on everything from Fast and Furious to Solyndra to Benghazi.
*Conservative women pushed back more forcefully than ever against Democrat femme-a-gogues and Planned Parenthood promoters.
*Small business owners, Republican blue-collar workers, minority conservatives, young conservatives, religious liberty advocates, and growing numbers of Hollywood conservatives all stood up and made their voices heard.
Once again, we have our work cut out for us. We lost this election, but we still live in the greatest country on the planet and we still have many ways to fight for and defend it.
My counsel to you tonight: Please, do not be bitter. Do not fall prey to the Beltway blame game. Do not get mired in small things. Do not become vengeful creatures like our political opponents who voted out of spite instead of love of country.
We still have boundless blessings to count — and to secure.
I remain a proud, unrepentant believer in the American Dream. And I know you do, too. Freedom will endure because we will keep fighting for it. We can’t afford not to, friends.
Earlier this evening, when many conservatives on Twitter started despairing, I quoted from Psalm 46:10. Elections come and go. Faith endures:
He says, Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.
Chins up. Stand tall. We’ll fight again tomorrow.
Just who might that true conservative have been? Certainly not any of the "candidates" who ran this time.
Michelle is delusional. All those wonderful accomplishments she reeled off don’t mean squat. The country I grew up in is dead. The unproductive and single women now rule the roost. Tocqueville warned us about this over 200 years ago and last night it became reality. We have a president that won reelection by using the Hugo Chavez / banana republic model. Demonize the producer, promise to level the playing at the expense of the productive and promise your follower stuff paid for by other people. People who pay no taxes and earn no money care nothing about jobs, the economy or debt. All they care about is government largesse and the GOP can never out Santa Claus the Rats, and even if they could the results for the country would be the same, ruination. Put down the bong Michelle it’s over.
Thanks for this thread.
This was one battle that was lost. At best, this loss will help us in the future avoid the obvious mistakes made in the past.
There will be other battles in the future, and our goal is to win more battles than we tie or lose.
The purpose of our future battles is to win the WAR, just as Breitbart warned us.
On the positive side we need to list what the problems are.
On the negative side we need to list what mistakes were made.
If our goal is to live within our means, then this is an excellent opportunity for us to focus on how best to achieve that goal.
As Paul Harvey said: “WHEN YOUR OUTGO EXCEEDS YOUR INCOME, YOUR UPKEEP WILL BE YOUR DOWNFALL.”
Unfortunately this is a Sea change election.
Their Base is larger than our Base and is growing.
They own the Media and Culture.
How do you compete with that.
The main thing we still have going for us is that their policies really don’t work in terms of making life better for most people. But then when you collect a government check you really don’t care about the economy.
California used to be conservative, The national has now become California.
Romney was right about the 47% slacker/free lunch mod.
Obama can’t get any more loans from China so where will he get some new money or what will he SELL for money??.
MICHELLE, YOU ARE A FINE GAL, AND A PATRIOT.
SHY CW2, WE ARE DONE.
