It turns out that Romney was right all along: 47% of the country is just "gone"

The gist of what Romney said was accurate, but it was technically wrong enough that it cost him dearly, and it was run nonstop here in FL, and I'm sure in other swing states.

Some of those people in that 47% that it was "not his job to worry about" were not welfare state sponges. They are retirees, dependents, etc.

Romney couldn't possibly have made a more stupid statement in saying what he said. Regardless of its truth, it was simply too blunt and insensitive to be anything but a huge negative for him.

It was his Akin moment. Even fiscal conservatives can lose it with their ideology.
