Israel will be OK. God made them a promise that He would never wipe them out. In the Book of Jeremiah, He said He would completely obliterate the countries He scattered the Jews to but He would never wipe out Israel. I’m paraphrasing.
Israel, yes. And end-time prophecies refer to countries like Egypt, Iraq, Russia (Gog and Magog). But no United States. Maybe tonight begins our exit from the stage of world history.
The larger theological question is whether the present secular Israel represents the promised regathering of Israel. Do we dare answer that with a resounding maybe?
The Jewish people will themselves not be wiped out as an entire race. That’s a promise. But it might not yet be the time for the permanent territory of Israel to be re-founded once and for all. Which means it could disappear again as a territory, as heartbreaking as that would be to existing devout Christians and Jews. Islamic domination will not be permanent despite its aspirations. Jesus asked if the kingdom of Satan is divided against itself how can that kingdom stand, and the answer is that of course it cannot. When Islamists run out of external enemies, or friendlies that defend them (like the US does for Saudi Arabia) they begin devouring one another.
