More than half the voters in Colorado had already submitted their ballots prior to today. Here are the early-vote ballot counts as of 10:10 am MT, according to Colorados Secretary of State:
Democrats: 653,450 (34%)
Republicans: 688,303 (36%)
Unaffiliated: 547,437 (29%)
A very good sign for Republicans, who usually perform better on Election Day than in early voting.
I think you can already cue up Dandy Don Meredith for CO: “Turn out the lights, the party’s over.”
Not to be a pessimist, but it all really comes down to which precincts are reporting. If the sample size is fairly homogenous across counties, it is indeed good news. If Denver metropolitan area is underrepresented in that sample, then it’s just pointless to lend this number any meaning.
The unaffiliated will break by good margins for Romney. It won’t be close enough for the democrats to cheat.
I thought that Dems have the advantage in early voting. If these numbers are true, than already we can chalk up CO for Romney. ... I feel the earth move under my feet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoHuxpa4h48&info=CaroleKing
