ANNOUNCEMENT: Possible good news regarding our server
Jim Robinson
Posted on 11/05/2012 11:20:31 AM PST by Jim Robinson
Some good news perhaps. John says he has found a problem with one of the servers and he's going to try to configure around it. But it'll take him a couple hours or more before he's ready to test it. Hang in there. Prayers up that it works!

Z O O O O M !
Have been opening a bunch of threads (that hadn't been hit before so they couldn't have been cached) and things seem to be MUCH better for the moment !
Still a little laggy on the preview button, but it's night/day from last night and this morning, Jim.

Havent received an official update yet after Johns latest configuration change, but havent had any timeouts in the last twenty minutes or so either. Not lightening fast, but looks like shes holding up under the load ok. Praying.

FR has speeded up for me by about 20X. Just posted a Sowell thread and it seems like it’s back to par.
Thank you both!!

I miss my VAX. But I dont think it could handle this load. If you want to invest in a real workhorse of a server, may I humbly recommend a Sun SPARC Enterprise T5440. They are scalable to become quite a monster, as needed. But they can be pricey.
As someone once said: If you need to serve dozens of users, use a Windows server. If you need to serve hundreds or thousands, use a Sun.
