ping for observation
It's a great place for live threads.
Looks like NE Texas is getting beat up pretty hard.
but I’m not having trouble getting to anywhere else. This is the first time I could log onto FR in the past 3 hours - I’m in NYC.
God love ya’! FR had excellent service after the East Coast power went down, curiously, and now that it’s been restored, we are back in the pits, guaranteed no access on election day, or possibly by even tomorrow by most ordinary users.
It is not your computer. The Robinson’s are agonizing over the problems too, but the solutions are in the future. Me? I would light a match to it and start all over with the stuff it takes to perform. People will pay for up for this awesome format and advertising is a non issue for me, if it means ordinary accessibility like all other sites.
But don’t expect access starting tomorrow, if FR behaves as it did for the debates. Several have just earlier said our sayonaras for the next few days, in fact. Hang in there.
me too, here in NYC.
Too many people trying to log in at the same time?
I’m not having any problems. I did clean up per suggestions that JimRob put out last week, so maybe that helped.
Probably isn't that simple.
That is screwed up. Should get some advertisers if more bandwidth is needed. There are plenty of good conservative businesses that would love to promote on this site!
I live in SoCAL and sometimes it work fine an sometimes it is really slow. When I traced the IP it spent allot of time bouncing around 8 IPs in Colorado and Nebraska. It might be related to who you use for a ISP. I use DSL extreme.
Agree. What we all want on Election Night is a place we can discuss and vent with like-minded people. If FR is going to be down, the Briefingroom is a great alternative site to go to, where there are many familiar names.
I think it would be prudent for anyone that wants to participate in a live thread on election night - to go ahead and sign up to be a member there, and then if this place goes down - all is not lost.

No Problem from the democrap state of MA
The bright side is that I've become quite proficient in both Minesweeper and Hearts while awaiting a response from FR.
And, yes, I contribute what I can every Freepathon, this is still the best place I have found to spend my spare time.
see #119 LOL
A day without FreeRepublic.com is a day without sunshine! I am sure they are working on the problem.
“I dont know, but it might very well be something with your computer causing the problem. You never know. There are myriad of things that can prevent your computer from running at optimum level.”

Nothing wrong with my computer because anything else I load is fast. I even implemented some of the steps to increase loading speed on FR, but pages still either load very slowly or not at all.
I’m in Kansas, and FR website has been very agonizing slow over the past week.
Has it suddenly gotten better in the past 10-15 minutes? Or am I experiencing faster loading since I disabled all sidebars? (I had left the Latest News as Jim does, but have since disable that too)
