I’m in Florida and we have pretty strict ID laws. You have to show picture ID and voter ID card, then sign on the line below your name in the voter’s register.
The ballot this year, in Florida, is ridiculously long, that’s why we chose to vote by mail (you can track your ballot online and make sure it arrived.)
Our ballot was 4 full pages, and there were 11 amendments that are long and tedious to read through. It took us 20 minutes, at home, to fill ours out and I had already studied the amendments so I knew what they meant.
I can’t imagine what the wait at the polls are, if people are really trying to understand the ballot.
Still, if you’re in line at 7PM when the poll closes, you are allowed to vote, so I don’t see what the extension’s necessary.
Could you elaborate a bit on the voter laws, and maybe some changes made in recent years down in Florida?
I heard for example that Florida checked its voter data for folks registered in Florida and other states, finding 40000.
