F**** Gov’t logic again. These people don’t need FREE FEMA gas, they need temporary $15/gallon gas, with the freedom for out-of-state suppliers and private truckers to bring in as much as they can, wherever they can.
Their fuel problems will quickly be solved.
“with the freedom for out-of-state suppliers”
Yeah, but unless you have the means to protect your supply from hi-jackers .....
And, of course, self defense is illegal in bloomberg land.
bump
I assume you mean gas trucked in by Teamster truckers?
Allowing the market to establish a price (the market clearing price) is what’s needed. It’s very, very unlikely that the price would rise to anywhere near $15.00/gal, in this case.
The FEMA trucks are able to get into the area with the “free” Obama gas — so, obviously, there are no logistical barriers to resupply. It’s a matter of allowing the retail price to rise enough to cover all of the costs of doing business. A somewhat higher cost for trucking in the gas; perhaps an additional cost for generators to pump the gas out of storage — if that added more than $3.00/gallon, I’d be surprised.
OTOH, force retailers to take even a tiny loss on sales, and the smart ones will simply go on holiday.
Many stations near me have plenty of gas, but power to pump it has not yet been restored.
