Sorry to throw cold water on your posts, but only the technician/programmer knows how the vote will be counted INSIDE THE INVISIBLE WORLD OF ELECTRONICS. The screen can be programmed to display anything, and the actual vote count inside the machine could be different.

Since I have written over million lines of computer code in various software development, I am quite aware switching votes is ridiculous inside the black box of voting machine.

see my previous post why paper ballots printed by the voting machine and then used for vote counting is MUCH MORE RELIABLE than the invisible black box electronics.

In Japan , each registered voter receives a paper in the mail from their local town hall / govt. When they go to vote , their name is checked off and they submit the paper . They then do a paper ballot vote . No problemo . Simple . You can’t vote twice . You can’t vote as an illegal alien . You can’t vote if you are dead . America is third world ???????????????????

Thats what I thought.

OK, now: The rolls only have so many voters, but if the machines record 3 to 1, that would be a major difficulty for them wouldn't it?

Question again: In Okla. we have paper ballots, we connect the Dots (so to speak), run that ballot through the scanning machine. Finished.

Is that the same type of machines you are talking about? If not, are ours oh the up and up. We have never had a voting problem here, that I know of, but then we are an ALL RED STATE, lol.

Code must be open source and available at all times. Voter fraud is also against the law and a felony. Does that stop voter fraud? Nope, it happens all the time. How many voting machines are there in 50 states? Is every one of them scrutinized by our technicians? I doubt it. Also, it only takes a few seconds to change the code in a machine AFTER VOTING HOURS end.

Our machines have a card like a debit card.

You poke it in the machine, cast your votes and the machine spits the card out and a poll worker puts in a box.

Are the votes tallied on the cards?

[since I’m in the gimme state of MD it’s a moot point but still...]

You people in OK are doing it better by using paper ballots. We have a hodgepodge voting system in the country. It varies by state and county.

For example here in WA state, 100% of vote is by mail! No voter ID or proof of citizenship required. My two kids came of voting age recently and they registered to vote and no one asked for their birth certificate or passport.

I do not like voting done entirely by electronic machines with NO PAPER TRAIL for verification.

Your system is as good as it gets. I wish it was followed by law in every county in the country.

You are exactly right. I have never seen a Computer program make an UNINTENDED error. I speak from more than 3 decades in software development.

We also have pit bull poll watchers which is kinda silly since everybody here knows everybody else by first name.

My [R] watchers are literally 2 women [and their brothers and sisters] that I grew up with yet I had to tap dance my way into the voting booth when they didn’t have my married name in the register yet.

[and the [D] watcher is life long neighbor whom I live to spite]

;D

In a just world, yes.

In America?

No, it doesn't even raise legal eyebrows if hundreds more people vote in 17 wards than are registered.

Did you see my post #23?

Regarding: 3 votes for Obama 1 for Romney. If there are only say 25 voters on the rolls, and yet it shows up to be 60 votes for Obama and 5 for Romney, wouldn't that give them a real problem to have to explain?

Thank you for answering all my questions, I do appreciate your expertise. Going to bed now, (fall back you know), and await your answer for tomorrows viewing.

Just DAMN!!!

How is it that our Republican officials WILL NEVER DO ANYTHING to stop this? It's not that they don't have the power.

They should hold up any election results, until every DAMNED one of those ballots can be verified, or demand a revote or have each voter submit an affidavit of how he voted. STOP all early voting and mail ins, except Military (who don't get to vote)..

Now we know why the Democrats and their pollsters know they are winning. Makes no difference what we think. I'm depressed now, going to bed. Sweet dreams all, if you can manage that in this nightmare.

I may know a bit about programming, but I am not an expert on variety of voting machines being used in various parts of the country. My guess is there are many different types.

Your point about 25 voters and 65 total votes is a valid one. However that is too obvious and I do not think that is the commonly used method of fraud.

If I was a democrat leaning technician/programmer in charge of voting machines in a district, and I wanted to commit voting fraud, I would not add many fictitious votes. I would instead, show on the screen your vote is for Romney but internally in electronics of the machine would switch every fourth vote for Romney to Obama. That would result in Obama gaining 25% of Romney’s votes. In many closely contested states that would be sufficient to change the results.

I am not in favor of voters marking paper ballots. Those are error prone. Remember Florida 2000 and the problems with punch cards manually recorded by voters or the butterfly ballots.

My preference is for voters using an electronic machine to record votes using an easy to read screen. After the voter is done, a paper sheet gets printed showing the votes. The voter can examine the paper and then deposit it in a ballot box. It is easier for poll watchers to keep track of a physical box rather than what is inside electronic memory of a voting machine.

These computer generated paper ballots will be free of reading errors by the paper scanner machine. And in case of a problem, they can be manually counted. The actual vote count will be done by a paper scanner in full view of poll watchers. If the result is suspiciously skewed, a manual count can be done.

May be all electronic machines have a paper trail. I just do not know, but have my doubts.

What is always needed is the good guys getting enough votes to overwhelm that. I believe you will get that in most states on Tuesday.

Never, never underestimate the importance of GOTV. Call your county GOP and ask to volunteer.

Seems like it would be easy enough to write into the code.

Though I wonder, how easy would it be for another programmer to spot this in the code? And I wonder how easy/possible would it be for the bad guys to code it to do this for a length of time and then revert back to the legitimate code.

All very distressing to think about.

Half our politicians and people WANT illegals to vote, multiple voting and no vote record. That is he problem.

Half of Americans are third world.

Okay. Now I must ask. If they are clever enough to rig the machine, why would they make it obvious enough that the voter reports the error? Why not just satisfy the voter with a false verification of a Romney vote? I’m not diminishing the potential of voter fraud, but I do believe they would fly a little more under the radar, don’t you?
