Evacuate as you’ve been told! Fuel your car; stock some water, canned goods, batteries and blankets beforehand if you don’t! Bad things happen and we are all ultimately responsible for ourselves.
When it comes to idiots who were in evac zones and did not evac, I’m with you. They deserve what they get.
A lot of these people DID prepare. The storm flooded areas miles further than the evacuation zones. Your lack of compassion for those who did prepare and whose houses were totally flooded out, or burned, or otherwise destroyed is what’s amazing.
Were there people up here who deserve what they got? Sure. But there were a lot of people - A LOT - who did what they should have, prepared, evacuated etc...and still lost everything.
Don’t assume that everyone here is in the same situation. We’re not. And a lot of us are your friends, FRiend.
Having lived through four hurricanes, I make no assumptions whatsoever that all situations are the same. Insurance is the responsible person’s friend, and the only ones who “lost everything” are those that died. I’m glad you survived. Good luck with your cleanup and rebuilding. It won’t be fun. I know.
