The generators are privately-funded and privately-owned... generators, which were supplied by Long Island-based On Site Energy

You know fully well that power utilities are not 'private' in any meaningful sense as, say, Macy's is private. Does Macy's get its income from taxes and fees government levies on the public? Regardless, all utility-owned generators in the area would normally be put to use helping residents during a disaster. Requisitioning them for the mayor's preening display is not acceptable.

“Long Island-based On Site Energy” Doesn’t sound like a utility company. Sounds more like a company that rents portable power stations.

I think it’s fine that Bloomberg looks like an ass. If he would have had a microgram of common sense, he would have made them cancel the event.

The sooner that people realize that when they become totally dependent on government, they have shredded any freedom, responsibility and any future they may have once had. Well they will have a future, but that future is in now the hands of government.

Maybe a few will take a new path as a result of this experience.
