>>They could at least air drop food and water for these people for now.<<

There's 40 gallons of water in your water heater. Do you know how to get it out? There's another five in your toilet tank that can be scooped out. Use a gallon paint can for a toilet instead of wasting water flushing it. Steam cook your food when you sterilize the water for drinking, that way you only need one fire.

These are common sense things to many who understand the meaning of self reliance. If you can't take care of yourself for a week, you need to die and get out of the way so productive people can use your house. Yes, I mean it. If you are so old and decrepit AND have never made friends who value your life experiences and skills so much they will assist you, then you need to go too.

Anyone waiting for someone to come and help them because they are out of gas, water, propane, or food after two days is IMO one of the stupid ones. Yes, being stupid should hurt. You are requiring the assistance of people who could be doing productive things like rebuilding storm damaged roads and power lines.

The storm surge was talked about on TV weather channels for four days before the storm hit land. It wasn't a surprise to anyone who took it upon themselves to read a disaster preparation book before the storm. Now, if watching the weather channel before the storm arrives would have interfered with you watching your daily sports of entertainment shows, too bad. Suffer it out.

If you didn't suffer because of the storm, did you go down to the local hospital, school, food bank, police or rescue station and offer your services. Why not. These people are your neighbors for chrissakes! Neighbors helping neighbors in time of need is that so difficult to understand?

>>Alfredo Zapata's home on Hunter Avenue was all but ruined by flood waters that rose to 11 feet and utterly devastated much of his block. "My next door neighbor died. Drowned. She was too old to leave," he said, adding the neighbor was only one of five people who were killed in Midland Beach during the storm.<<

I would have broken this man's face had he said that to me. The sorry sonofabitch never thought to help the old lady

Yep I know all of those things but maybe you ought to realize that many of the people you are telling to do these things FIRST need to find their water heater and toilets, see many of those houses are gone.
